By:
caramba
When: 13 Jan 15 06:01
A clarification regarding nationality based questions (2, 5, 30) because there are usually some players switching nationality. What matters is which nation a player is representing at the time the question is settled, and for event specific questions which nation a player is representing at that specific event. In the cases of Tomljanovic and Gavrilova, they will both be considered Australian for the #2 question since they are both representing Australia at that event, despite still representing Croatia and Russia respectively at WTA events until they get their Australian passports. If for instance Gavrilova would reach top 40 at the end of the season, she will count as a Russian for the #30 question if she's not gotten her Australian passport by then, if she has gotten her Australian passport by then she will count as an Australian.
This will likely not matter since top 40 players rarely switch nationality, but there is a possibility it will make a difference for the Australian Open question.

On Thursday we'll know the answer to the question "2) How many Australian women will reach R32 at Australian Open?" There are four in R2:
Stosur vs Vandeweghe
Dellacqua vs Keys
Gajdosova vs Halep
Tomljanovic vs Lepchenko
By:

When: 20 Jan 15 13:12
I disagree on Tomljanovic, I had no idea she has switched countries or when, must have been very recent, and furthermore still representing another one for 95% of the season! this seems a bit dubious to me, as I looked at the wta Australian rankings and decided 3 would make round 2, Tomljanovic still comes under CRO only, I would have picked four if I'd had know she was representing them, as a side point, she is a bit of a sell out.

This is outrageous, I have written to the Competition Complaints' Commission over this, Tomljanovic is not an Australian citizen, she does not have an Australian passport, she does not have an Australian residency, and is not recognised as being Australian by the WTA, she is not Australian! She is Croatian. What's more, is that this was not clarified before the deadline but after! You've done me out of a point here.
