Been wondering about this one - Monfils given Fed lot more difficulty recent meetings - beaten Fed twice on Hard courts in last 3 meetings, though Fed won the last meeting.
Is there value in Monfils? Bigger stage may reduce his performance...tough call. |

I was thoroughly impressed with Monfils against Dimitrov, although Dimitrov was below par, Monfils meant business which is not the usual impression he leaves, no frills, no drama, just got the job done, I doubt he will beat Federer but taking a set, as I see it, looks a good bet. I would love to see a Monfils-Cilic semi, a refreshing change to see a player outside the top 10 in a slam final.

Having a little dabble on monfils at 1.6. Two sets up. Even if Iose its good value

Almost backed Monfils to win as a straight punt there - thank feck I didn't, would have been seething waking up to that result! Talk about choking it away...

was he really still 1.6 at 2-0 (start of third set)??

Monfils might be a great athlete and fast but last night was a very clear demonstration of the physical work the top guys put in. Despite his age Federer looked like he could have gone another couple of hours whilst Monfils was like a boxer who had punched himself out.

Also shows how much of this game is in their heads, not just their bodies.

Monfils is gonna be a big lay for the rest of the year. That's gonna wreck his head for a while.

By:
Yep, and not hard to do that with him!

It certainly hasn't harmed Federer that he's continually been scheduled for the night session and thus avoided the most extreme conditions throughout the tournament. Monfils had to play Dimitrov when the heat and humidity was at its most extreme on Tuesday and that clearly is going to take a toll in the 2nd week of a slam. |

What price was Mugfils to lay when he had those match points?
|
|
By:
1.2 or 1.21
|
|
By:
LOL, really? that about sums Mugfils up. Market knows him too well

Pretty bad if he only goes to 1.2 given the situation. Anyone else would have been 1.05
|
|
By:
i backed federer at 5.7/5.8 on one of those MPs
his odds didn't go over 6.0 iirc so ~1.2 makes sense |
|
By:
yes 6 on Federer.

Feel sorry for Monfils losing to that Mug
