great match, a future champion in the making
By:
i hope she loses the final

By:
Masha looks awkward showing emotions
By:
not a warm greeting in the end. tennis is a cruel sport..
By:
shoulder injuries are as bad you can get though and even after rehab is done you need a long time to play at even a decent level again.
Just ask Tommy Haas. He has plenty of experience with them. |
By:
well done masha ,take down forum favourite next

MST just promised us Genie will win Slams.

mes
if Djokovic retired tomorrow, would he be a great by your terms? |
By:
would be a big quitter like Borg imo
By:
I mean seriously, reach the final of RG and then retire from the sport before the final? Quitter
By:
*likely reach
By:
womens tennis is very unpredictable ...gone are the days of wiliams sisters ,steffi etc dominatiing
By:
this is wta baby
By:
2nd and 3rd best clay players going to be in the final, not all that unpredictable
![]() |
By:
Petkovic is not the 3rd best clay player imo. The title she won was on fake clay
By:
it's just more competitive than ATP
By:
This time last year she had just lost to a nobody in qualies and was on the verge of going depressive and throwing the towel
![]() |
By:
I wouldn't put Masha in the same tier as Serena, Graf and Navratilova, but would still consider her an all time great. The fact that she's come back back from so many more injuries makes her results even more impressive.
By:
...then came Marseille and Nürnberg
![]() |
By:
its more competitive because the standard of play is significantly lower. a player like sharapova would never be as successful in the atp - i would compare her to hewitt
By:
a player like sharapova would never be as successful in the atp
what? |
By:
![]() |
By:
from a talent and skill standpoint
By:
It basically depends how broad you take all time great as.
For me all time great means in the discussion for the best ever. So I wouldn't personally have Sharapova down as that. |
By:
Nor would Serena, Graf nor anyone else that has ever and likely will ever play WTA
By:
since sharapova won her first slam has been knocked out of slams by
French open: Serena / Li na / Henin / Cibulkova / safina / Ivanovic / safina / henin wimbledon: De Brito / Lisicki / Kvitova / Serena / Dulko / Kudryavtseva / venus / Mauresmo / Venus / US open: Azarenka / pennetta / wozniacki / oudin / radwanska / henin / clijsters Austrlia: cibulkova / li na / azarenka / petkovic / kirilenko / serena / henin / serena / she may be one of the best players in her era, but an all time great? that's an insult to the likes of serena and graff, who would have sliced her to pieces |
By:
Before or after Duckworth has become a top10 player?
By:
Spelling her Graff is an even bigger insult
By:
an all time great - one of the best (10-15) ever
the all time great - GOAT/THE best ever is how I been taught and how I define it anyway. |
By:
nothing against Lars Graff of course. He's awesome
By:
*I have
By:
By:
yeah, it should also not be spelled Graaf: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogMRSwk2LpI
By:
mes, you don't think Djokovic would be a quitter for ducking out of the final against Nadal or Murray if he retires tomorrow after having won against Gulbis in the semis?
By:
in those losses fwiw
French Open - 4 champs (2x multi) and a finalist Wimbledon - 4 champs (2x multi) and a finalist US Open - 2 champs (both Multi), 2 finalists Aus - 4 champs (2x multi), 1 finalist some GOATs like Mel, and the odd losses are when she was coming back from injury |
By:
does petkovic have any chances in here?
By:
i don't think so, but didn't vs Errani either
By:
You're making my point aaron, a true great would have lost so many
edy, that's not novaks style I can't believe you're even trying to put maria on the same pedestal as those genuine greats, you're on the wind up ![]() |
