^I think your Serena point is taken way out of context. Serena hadn't won a title on red clay in 11 years between 2002 and 2013.
Now look how she dominates on the surface the last few years. There are no outstanding clay courters anymore. Serena also used to not give a crap about the clay season. I could actually argue clay is Serena's easiest surface to win on these days. I definitely felt that was the case last year. It might have changed a bit now with the rises of Jankovic and Ivanovic.

well my strategy with williams is to lay her at the start of the tourney in the outright market (very cheap). then take a nice green position when she gets into trouble in one of her matches (usually doesn't take too long).
