This thread will probably get some hate from some others on tennis forum, but the point is to keep the ESC talk here and not in the mega fred.
So this starts today (semi final tonight 21.00 local time (CET)), then the other semi final is on Thursday and the final on Saturday night.
As usual there have been some massive odds movements since market opened, but unlike the previous two years where the odds on the fave have shortened the closer to the competition we got, that hasn't happened this year. Armenia, who are still faves, went down to 1.80 in March, but is currently over 3. Norway were early faves and was matched at 3.25 but is currently traded at 30. On the other hand, countries such as Ukraine and UK (why?) have shortened and are currently trading at 13. Sweden is 2nd fave, but I don't see Sanna having much success here. Poland is making its comeback after being absent for the past two years, but there's not a lot of love from the market for "My Słowianie". Germany is sending a really boring song, but hopefully their presenter won't screw up when presenting the scores this year.

edy you're having a laugh, you can go all night saying similar things like that, like pronunciations, we don't pronounce words the way they are spelt either, in that sense, every language is weird, the yanks like to be different God bless em, really they all just want to be English, they're obsessed with us.
Ideally however words should mostly be spelt like they are pronounced. Hence the american version should be considered an improvement.
Or do you have groundbreaking arguments on why pronounciation should differ more than necessary from the actual spelling?

edy what planet have you just swung by from, the American pronunciation tends to drag out each and every last syllable, which ironically would mean our spellings with the letter U would be better suited for them, not doing the opposite and shortening words, ironically, they don't understand irony though.
mesmerised has learned years to learn German despite there being zero need for it.

Having a look at the results now, from what I've seen far Austria got high points from the tele voting, for instance it finished 3rd in Russian tele voting.
Won the German tele voting rank, but only placed 11th with the jury.
So how did that happen if all russians are homophobic? Maybe western europeans need to stop being so prejudiced about easterners as a whole being prejudiced.
All the russians aren't homophobic. Otherwise bands like **** Riot wouldn't exist

Malta went 1-1-1-3-1 with jury, 24 with phone vote in Armenia
If you look back thru the years, for some reason Malta always vote for us,
makes you think stuff is leaked considering how those two countries shortened after ESC, even if that info is supposed to be top secret.
In every country I've looked, Austria has been 4th or better for tele voting.

It's weird how the jury of one country can place Austria at 25th, where all jury members have them around that, and then another jury have the same country at 1st place, with all jury members voting them 1st.

that's fine, but there are other ways of doing so than voting for some gimmick singer. There were others who deserved it more and for them to be screwed over in a competition that's supposed to be based on musical talent because of some political message is not right in my opinion.
last year's ukrainian drag gotta be properly pissed. This year Ukraine+pretty drag (which admittedly he wasn't....) would've meant a sureshot winner.

anyway Austria dominated the tele voting across the board, which I didn't think they would and I felt I had good arguments for my reasoninng, so I completely misread this. I hate to be wrong

so instead of big scale phone scam they just bribed a few technicians and jury members.

it's about being part in that organisation. Just like Israel always plays in UEFA. Or Australia in Asia instead of Oceania

None of the jurors stand out from any of the other which makes it look like they were all in this together. They have given high points to countries that were expected to score low points overall, and given their lowest scores to nations that were expected to do well such as Austria, Sweden and Netherlands, which looks very much like a way to make sure that their biggest threats in this competition got as few points as possible for them. As a result of this even though nations such as Austria and Sweden did ok in their tele voting, they ended up with no or very few points (Austria got 1, none of the other top nation scored points) since the results presented are a combination of tele votes and jury votes.
It probably didn't make a big difference this time overall, but they should be thrown out imo for this and all the other shady things they have done in this competition.

let it go caramba. i agree that their practices are wrong. i doubt things will change though. but now it's time for you to let it go
let what go? I really don't see a problem with discussing an event that finished only a few hours ago, this doesn't even have anything to do with austria winning as it's a completely different matter. I got nothing better to do at the moment anyway with this NBA train going on.

i think political voting and questionable voting practices will exist with eurovision. i don't know how you can eradicate it from the smaller countries without banning them.

the jury voting that those mugs from Germany and the UK heavily lobbied for has ruined the entire competition. All just because they felt hated by the public and wanted to gain some extra points from jurors.
wonder why Armenia/Azerbaijan's clear tactical voting wasn't ruled out
Read up on Eurovision 2015. No confirmation from Poland but Cyprus will make its return next year, so that's good news for Greece.
