Memo from Fed to Wilson: please send my old racquets back to me
By:
he wasn't hardly winning anything with his old racquet in a long time, 1 slam in about 14 attempts, and that was lucky
By:
True, but he's doing f*cking terribly with these new ones
By:
The US Open should be his last tournament, when players like the last 2 weeks are not scared of him at all should be the sign for him to bow out. Don't want to see him around trying to win the Hall of Fame championships in the next two years just to win another tournament.
By:
yes USO should be just last try. I hope so.
By:
Fcuk the trophies and tournament wins.I now think he should retire sooner than later because of his back.
I really think that is the underlying factor here.It was at wimbeldon against Benneteu right? Not long ago at all.I think it's got worse, he hardly moved or tried today. In his home town? Racquets is one thing but the back is the real issue imo.He should quit before a serious injury. |
By:
I got the impression Fed was thinking about making it through to the next Olympics...
By:
Fed resorting to trying to vulture Newport would be a sad sight indeed.
By:
Given the decline of his serve and movement you have to feel like the back is giving up. No reason to retire just yet but might be better off resting up before the USO instead of trying to get match practice in
By:
would love to see Fed at the Hall Of Fame Championships

you'll have to wait a bit longer
http://www.live-tennis.com/category/ Tennis-News/Roger-Federer-hits-back-at-his-doubters-201308010002/ ... Federer made it clear that he hasn't made any plans to finish his career. After all, he's already started making arrangements to compete in tournaments in 2014 such as the Brisbane International, which he'll be playing at for the first time in his career. ... |
By:
he will and should carry on a bit longer but i'd surprised if he's still playing in 2015
By:
losses to bad guys means nothing. he will look ok at uso.go to semifinal i think. probably will be nice to see fed vs nadal first time at uso. will not retire in 2013
By:
retire fedex and stop throwing all these matches against mugs.
By:
I don't think he's injured or there's a problem with his racquet. I think he's just more interested in the size of his bank account than tennis. Probably spends more time negotiating new sponsorships and checking on investments than training.
By:
it's all about his back

When you lose a set 61 to a 35 year and broken straight away in the set 2......it's time to start thinking about when and where to retire, maybe basel
By:
ITS TIME
By:
making himself look like a fool, call it a day ffs
By:
I would wait until US Open before judging him, he might not want to waste his energy in these mickey mouse tournaments. Presumably he has to make an appearance for his sponsors etc.
By:
he's playing poorly, it's got nothing to do with energy preservation. he even arrived to cinci one week earlier - skipping montreal - to train here with the goal of making a good result. this is not a good confidence builder if we want to talk USO
By:
Since when are masters events micky mouse? also he doesn;t want his ranking to continuous slip, he's defending 1000 points here
But here one minute to short than too long, the guy can't find his range There is no way Federer stand a chance of winning the US open unless he gets lucky and doesn't face murray/djoker/nadal, i wouldn even fancy berdych and delpo to beat him |
By:
if nadal wins tonight which is fully expected I think we could see 1 of feds worst results tomara, he will absoloutly batter fed,
By:
fed will never beat rafa again on any surface
By:
Yes he should retire imho.
By:
I think many of his problems have come from taking too many breaks between tournaments. He lacks match prowess, seems to crumble under pressure and the way to regain that is simply to play more matches.
By:
He has said that he is not bothered about the rankings, and is trying to stay in the top eight for after the US Open, but his game is more important and he is trying to get it back on track.
By:
its time
By:
he wont retire until he gets to 1000 career wins, it'll take another 2 seasons at this rate, has anyone ever won 1000 times before?
By:
He's making himself a laughing stock really. People will remember him fading away into back street tournies - not the way he would want to remain in the memory!
By:
Lendl won 1071 matches. Federer is currently #4 all time with 913, but will overtake Vilas soon as he won 924 matches.
By:
no chance of catching conners record then

Trust me, he would like to retire, but cannot because of his sponsors.
By:
I'll sponsor him to retire
