hey arrong, what happens if on a certain day all scheduled players are my earlier selections? does this mean i'm eliminated as I can't have a valid pick?
|
|
By:
that's something I never considered would be a possibility
i'll figure something out if it happens |
|
By:
it can happen in the later stages very easily, and is pretty much guaranteed for the final, if there are enough suicide competition survivals

Potential options:
1) You get knocked out, it being considered a fault of the player - you need to pick mugs in the early rounds (therefore tougher picks) to guarantee that you have available selections when we get to the latter stages and (presumably) the top players are the ones left in. 2) You're allowed to restart, but (sub-options): A - You're given a clean slate (unfair on those who have picked more mugs in early rounds in order to have free choice later on - if you get to the latter stages by picking the top players you shouldn't then be on an even footing with someone who has skilfully picked mugs to reach the same stage as you) B - You're forced to pick players in the order you picked them to begin with I would favour 2B or another option that someone can come up with that doesn't just give you a free hand to pick Nadal, Serena etc. twice |

I guess we could do it by random if it came to it
I could number the players, and you pick a number. I would pm the list to someone else who can then post your pick |

It's quite possible that we won't get to this situation anyway. It's very likely to happen if people make the SFs (or maybe even the QFs if they use really obvious picks), but with people having to pick every day rather than every round that should be enough to knock most people out before they arrive in this 'trapped' situation we're envisioning.

The whole point is to make picks carefully so you don't run out of players.
|
|
By:
Also, if you look at the picks everyone took for today, people have seemingly almost universally been playing with the latter stages in mind.
