tweedy if the injury was for real why carry on when 4-1 down second set and risk making it worse, only to retire after winning second set makes no sense,what has he proved.

What makes most sense is that he wanted to prove he could win against someone like Granollers, but didnt want to play the tournament, and so decided to retire.
