That is wrong. They wouldn't postpone them tomorrow. It's only like 5:43pm local time. Why on earth would they? Plus then they would have to play 2 Q match in 1 day that isn't fair.

Given that her reason for lateness is that she was participating in a WTA tournament, they probably have to accommodate her.

ACL injury.  Nasty  Sad
Report n88uk March 5, 2013 2:10 AM GMT
All matches bar Pliskova - Puchkova start tonight Darlo. That is first on tomorrow. So basically it's hard luck if like me you back Puchkova at some point.
Report smb360 March 5, 2013 2:12 AM GMT
She had a 14 week break from Jan 2012
Played 2 weeks and was off for another 17
Came back the week before the USO and then injured herself for another 8 weeks in her first match this year

I think all of those injuries have been the same knee, if she makes it back to her old level after this then it will put Rafa's comeback to shame Grin
Report Darlo Bantam March 5, 2013 2:14 AM GMT
For one Betfair shouldn't have put it in play if it's not starting tonight, but it's obvious they don't care.

I have it listed as 3am.

Report n88uk March 5, 2013 2:21 AM GMT
smb360 those injuries weren't all knee. The first injury in Jan 2012 was a hairline fracture of the back. Her return was immediately met with an ankle ligament injury. She returned late last year, then 1st match this year she blew out her knee.
Report smb360 March 5, 2013 2:21 AM GMT
They seem to be taking a long time to start the second set in Petkovic's match. I hope she isn't pre-MTO.
Report smb360 March 5, 2013 2:21 AM GMT
Ah okay, I read a quote from her about her being thankful it was only the meniscus and not ACL this time
Report n88uk March 5, 2013 2:22 AM GMT
It's first on tomorrow's OOP SorA, I don't think it's happening tonight.

And yes Putintseva is rubbish, market seemed to forget that. She plays junior paced tennis in the pro game.
Report Srichaphan or Ancic? March 5, 2013 2:22 AM GMT
Just out of interest, if Nadal is worried about his knees, why is he playing an exhibition match?
Report smb360 March 5, 2013 2:22 AM GMT
Ah, she did ACL in 2008 lol
Report n88uk March 5, 2013 2:23 AM GMT
Probably the usual toilet break after losing a set 6-0.
Report smb360 March 5, 2013 2:23 AM GMT
I don't think he is, any more, or else he wants as much practice as he can get, especially the chance to play another top player on presumably another surface
Report smb360 March 5, 2013 2:24 AM GMT
Petko has held to 15 now anyway so no worries there.

Was just a bit scared for my money and scared for her that she was currently lying on a towel in the diagnosis phase before the calling of an MTO.
Report Srichaphan or Ancic? March 5, 2013 2:24 AM GMT
Petkovic was on Twitter thanking Indian Wells for the qualifier spot. I am sure she'll be in the main draw.
Report annibal March 5, 2013 2:24 AM GMT

Report smb360 March 5, 2013 2:25 AM GMT
It looks like she's definitely come back at a reasonable level anyway. Perhaps her best level for a long time, considering her results were poor (understandably so) after her previous comebacks in the last 15 months.
Report n88uk March 5, 2013 2:26 AM GMT
Petkovic specifically wanted a wildcard into qualifying and not into main draw as she wants to get matches.

Report n88uk March 5, 2013 2:30 AM GMT
Her results weren't that bad tbf smb360. She got some bad draws. More important she massively paid the price for a huge flaw in WTA rules last year. Basically you can only play 2 internationals a year, 1 in each half of the year if you finished previous year top 10 (which Petkovic did). This meant on her comeback she had to play all ultra tough premier events. So couldn't break herself in vs softer fields. You'll notice at end of year her results picked up when she played Luxembourg (was solid there). Apparently WTA never thought of this happening when they put in that stupid rule.

Fortunately this year she won't have this same problem.

Del Potro throwing the match.
Report smb360 March 5, 2013 2:34 AM GMT
You're right. Looking more closely at some of the opponents she faced soon after her comebacks I was being unfair to her there. I think memories of losses against the likes of Oprandi on hard were obscuring the fact that she was having to play Azarenka, Radwanska, Cibulkova, Stosur and the like Scared
Report smb360 March 5, 2013 2:37 AM GMT

6-0 putintseva ,she's back!
Report n88uk March 5, 2013 2:39 AM GMT
It's the problem of she had to play a top 10 schedule without the protection of being seeded. So she's getting thrown into the lions vs Azarenka and the like from the start. Which in turn is even more counter productive, because when you're coming back you desperately want matches. I think it's a stupid rule anyway, and it definitely should have exemptions for players like Petkovic last year because that rule alone basically gave her zero chance to properly come back.
