Robson is truly shocking here. I wouldn't even say Putintseva is using good tactics. She is just hitting the majority of the stuff down the middle of court with little pace. She would be utterly destroyed doing that vs someone good.

RMB I think Robson has got overrated this year massively. She was like 1.65 vs Hantuchova last week that I thought was ridiculous at the time. I actually think she has had a poor start to the season, but the win over Kvitova has put paper over the cracks. That win allowed the british media to keep hyping her as the "best future talent", but the reality is Kvitova has beaten herself vs a variety of opponents this year. Of course the media never look further than skin deep, and just see she beat former Wimbledon Champion, she must therefore be future GOAT.
All of her losses this year were on paper winnable matches, and she let herself down in all of them. |
