Wouldn't like to call this until I've watched some but it looks like a potentially very exciting match.
Barthel's big breakout came in Hobart last year when she annihilated Kerber in the semis and Wicky herself in the final and since then markets have tended to price her almost as a top 10 player due to the phenomenal talent she showed. She mostly went off the boil due to attitude problems (imo) but seemed to be rejuvenated and focused against Larsson last night, who was totally out of her depth against a Barthel firing on all cylinders.
Wicky managed to beat Barthel a few weeks after the aforementioned final in a close match and will no doubt be highly motivated against her opponent again tonight. She's looked very focused so far at this tournament and seems to have rediscovered some form. With Wickmayer also having an aggressive style Barthel shouldn't find it anywhere near as easy to dictate as she did against Larsson.

perhaps the trickiest of all matches tonight, Wicky looking alright and doubt it will be like second to last match. Barthel may still lose it a bit, when things not going her way on serve. staying out until something happens or set. GL

Very hard to call..heart says barthel but the agression and power of wickmayer could take her over the finish line.
Id like to think that barthels shots are finding the lines she will take this no problem but she needs to be on top of her game every time. Ill watch a bit myself beforehand |
