Taking this price on Kerber but I haven't seen Venus yet this tournament - how is she playing compared to her good level at Cincy?

Kerber was 1.7 something earlier iirc. Still a good price. Venus might get a set but can't see her beating Kerber.

Dunno but Kerber is nowdays one of the best players around and in this matchup on a hard court should take Venus without much fuss. Also I trust Pinnacle a lot more than a few random low level layers here on Betfair.

i am backing Venus because i can not stand Marin..he is useless and i have prospered opposing his bets
nothing is better than taking his cash..good luck VenusHappy

To elaborate, Pinnacle opened Kerber at 1.671 and has steadily faced downward pressure.

Pre-match price movements aren't everything though Silly But I agree and my head tells me this is a nice price, but I've got just a little bit of a foreboding feeling because Kerber isn't quite at her top level at the moment and I'm a little in the dark about Venus, also missed their game at the Olympics which was very close. Venus is surely better suited to grass than Kerber though.

Nice price shift, opening odds was 1.9, I am disappointed I have slept that opportunity. Cry

Obviously not, but taking value prices has proven to be an easily winning strategy in the long term.

Of course Kerber is a favourite, but Venus is home player lost only to Na Li in recent matches(though many three-set matches), can be tricky. I decided to skip this one. Don’t like the odds anymore.

For example, right now you can back Kerber at 1.6 and it will get matched, while Pinnacle is at 1.538.

Even if we account for BF fee, this is a bonus on the most precise price in the world, given by basically amateurs in comparison (Pinnacle now has limit of 5k USD on moneyline, but often you can get up to 25k on moneyline).

And how on earth 3k matched on 1.36? Lookes like some shark made a mistake.

Probably someone took 1.8 and layed 1.36, only it turned out to be a back and someone nailed him.

Min-Hwa Yu v Mi Yoo now anyone?

Srichaphan or Ancic?

I think Williams has a decent chance here.

Stick them on an outside court, maybe not, but in the primetime match? She'll get her form going.

That link that was posted earlier - but seems to have disappeared - showed Kerber was one of the best players to back even stakes.

It was very early stages of the market. There will have been very little money and someone made a mistake.

Looking back at Kerber's record this year, we used to get such awesome prices on her Love Took a while for the markets to start pricing her better.

About 4.0 against Woz at the Woz Open (Copenhagen)
1.6 against Jankovic Laugh

Who on earth was laying Kerber at 1.8?
By:
Srichaphan or Ancic?
When: 31 Aug 12 02:21
very tricky match to predict this. Kerber obviously has the form and is the more talented. Youd think she would win, but the stage and the crowd is for Williams.

Srichaphan or Ancic?

Having said that, in the previous four US Opens, Williams has lost all her matches as underdog.

I did something very similar on the Champions League semi-final second leg between Real and Bayern. I tried to get quick into the market when it opened and underestimated the odd differences between normal time (90 minutes) and extra-time (just 30 minutes). Draw was much lower than I had expected.

she was underdog against barthel (matchstat says 2.17, likely 10-15 ticks higher on bf) at the same tourney.

I think Kerber 2-0 and Williams to win could be a good counterbet.

I'm going through her matches in the past year. After her first breakthrough here last year (semis), she still managed to lose against both Daniliidou and Schoofs later in 2011.
