When did he last win a non-clay tournament?
Report Jason Bourne June 28, 2012 10:29 PM BST
Yes he should, and not just because of tonight.
Report petr cech June 28, 2012 10:32 PM BST
2010 since he won something off clay I think.

No chance of winning another hard court slam and Novak will be ready for him at RG next year.
Report Jason Bourne June 28, 2012 10:34 PM BST
October 2010, where he had to beat Monfils in a final ...
Report Jason Bourne June 28, 2012 10:34 PM BST
And had to save MP in the semis against Troicki !!! Laugh
Report 9Dart June 28, 2012 10:34 PM BST
2010 US Open?, when he had his big serve thanks to his 'grip change'

Whatever happened to that?
Report 46yearslol June 28, 2012 10:35 PM BST
Dirt track bully
Report Davy Jones June 28, 2012 10:41 PM BST
He looked poor in last round. He was so desperate to beat djoko on clay he has sacrificed his game for other surfaces.

He also does my head in with his time wasting.
Report Jason Bourne June 28, 2012 10:43 PM BST
Garner calling a let on Rosol's ace when Nadal wasn't ready was one of the most despicable things i've seen on a tennis court, it probably will get forgotten about by most people in the madness of the result, but I found that shocking.
Report Davy Jones June 28, 2012 10:44 PM BST
You are right, that was disgusting and could have cost him big time.

Nadal just breaks the rules nearly every game.
Report 9Dart June 28, 2012 10:46 PM BST
That was incredible, and as you say could have been a massive talking point
Report ACL June 28, 2012 10:46 PM BST
"SHOULD NADAL RETIRE??"

lol
Report petr cech June 28, 2012 10:47 PM BST
especially since Rosol lost the point when they replayed it.  Luckily Rosol was serving so well it didn't matter in the end.
Report 9Dart June 28, 2012 10:50 PM BST
Used to be a fan of Nadals but his behaviour in the last 2 years has got worse and worse

He barely looked Rosol in the eye at the end, and just about shook his hand briefly

Surely someone who has won so much in the game as Nadal, could be a bit more courteous to someone who is probably experiencing his one big moment of glory in his career
Report petr cech June 28, 2012 10:51 PM BST
Everyone says he's humble Laugh
Report 9Dart June 28, 2012 10:53 PM BST

Report louie87 June 28, 2012 10:53 PM BST

Report ACL June 28, 2012 10:54 PM BST
you don't get to the top without being a bad loser
Report Jason Bourne June 28, 2012 10:55 PM BST
louie He needs to enter Bastad, Gstaad and Hamburg this year to get some wins to keep his confidence up. Otherwise, it's April next year until he finds his best form, as usual.
Report 9Dart June 28, 2012 10:55 PM BST
Of course, but he creates this image of being a good
Report 9Dart June 28, 2012 10:56 PM BST
loser
Report louie87 June 28, 2012 10:58 PM BST
he pushed the best player on the planet to 5 sets in the aussie open won the french and has been beaten by a man who has had the game of his life. he will recover for the hard court season and I still think he's the only man that can challenge novak at the US at the end of the season.
Report petr cech June 28, 2012 11:09 PM BST
So you say he pushed Novak to 5 sets in Oz and that makes him the only man who can challenge him at he US... did you forget about certain Swiss bloke who got even closer to beating him at the US 2 years in a row?
Report 9Dart June 28, 2012 11:10 PM BST
Murray can also challenge him

Admittedly there are only 3 though

Unless Rosol plays like that againPlain
Report alun2005 June 28, 2012 11:14 PM BST
There's no reason why Nadull can't win another 7 Carking Cups in Paris to be realistic, if he can bother being motivated to do it.

He'll also still continue to benefit from spineless umpires who turn a blind eye to time wasting and gamesmanship.

He will do a Phil Taylor. Be so pissed off at losing that he is will come back even better. Don't be suprised if he wins next year.
Report petr cech June 29, 2012 9:01 AM BST
Phil Taylor?  Does he play for West Brom?
Report rickysomas1 June 29, 2012 9:08 AM BST
why the hell should world number 2 retire?

He played 11 tournaments this year:

4 won ( Roland Garros included )
3 semifinals ( Miami withdrew before facing A. Murray cause of knee troubles)
1 time runner up ( Aussie Open )
lost to Verdaco on blue clay
fold vs Kohlschreiber
lost a match to Rosol

yes.... he should retire..... Laugh you are amazing at times.....should he retire cause you lost money on him?  Laugh
Report bb66 June 29, 2012 9:14 AM BST
he may play on if he stops a$$ picking, besides he won't be #2 any longer, will be lucky if he's top 3 end of year, just lives on his clay domination.
Report rickysomas1 June 29, 2012 9:17 AM BST
bb66 he has gone close to win Aussie a couple months ago... he doesn't surely leave ONLY on his clay domination, cause just like stats say he played semis and finals even in non clay tournaments... and this year at Australian Open, Aussie open is not on clay, is it? Laugh
Report petr cech June 29, 2012 9:23 AM BST
It's not far away from clay Tongue Out

Besides, now that his ranking is slipping he can no longer get plumb draws, so he'll have to beat Fed AND Novak to win (not happening on hard court). Normally he gets Murray or someone like Youzhny (lol) in the SF while Novak and Fed soften each other up in the other semi.
Report rickysomas1 June 29, 2012 9:25 AM BST
Petr that's still not a good reason for retire from tennis.... and I  won't back Djokovic or Federer when they play Rafa, never on any surface... just like I won't back Rafa vs Djoko or Federer... Good Luck everybody... pointless discussion this one imo... and pointless thread too...
Report petr cech June 29, 2012 9:29 AM BST
Of course he shouldn't retire - this is just a funny troll thread, probably in response to all the "should Fed retire" threads that pop up when he loses in a semi-final.
Report rickysomas1 June 29, 2012 9:31 AM BST
Laugh it's boring to wait for Wimbledon to start.... Laugh
Report addrian June 29, 2012 9:32 AM BST
ricky dont mind them...they are just haters..I mean as far as I remember at AO he defeated federer in semifinal...everyone can have a bad day and we all know that he has problems against big server****s, remember Isner at FO and Petschner at Wimbledon..it is not really as big as a surprise..Altough I like Rafa I layed  him yesterday at 1,02 prematch only because rosol has 2 m. I traded out after the 3rd set but it wasnt such a big surprise imo..anyway he will come back stronger

..anyway he will come back stronger

when, where, and stronger to which reference? Many open questions, nevertheless I would hold the bet.
Report 9Dart June 29, 2012 10:38 AM BST
He has come back stronger a couple of times before when he seemed to be on the wane

Particularly after a break where he can get 're-energised'

Wont play for ages now, so plenty of time for his team to 'work on him'
Report asdasf June 29, 2012 10:41 AM BST

Shameful behaviour
