they should go back to the original company who developed the original blue clay and nobody will complain about the colour

its just a poor excuse from top players... they should blame the CLAY used here, not the colour that its 100% better for THE PEOPLE WHO SEE TENNIS AND IN FACT IS THE PEOPLE WHO NADAL AND THE OTHERS PLAY FOR AND WIN MILLIONS THANKS TO US..

I know zamorano, but when Mr. Tiriac first came across with the idea he promised it would play exactly like a normal clay court, just have a different colour. I think it's ok if players bitch around about that promise obviously having been broken by organizers. Especially as they use this big a tournament in the run up to RG to really test this on a professional level for the first time.

Having said that, why bother making it blue in the first place? I never had real problems seeing the ball on TV, these streams or when I went to a clay tournament. There are glasses and contacts for your eyes out there...

look guys if you let nadall and verdasco play against each other on ice, there wouldn`t be much difference between them so verdasco would have a chance to win as he had today. But this kind of clay is really a casino - I watched some matches this week and the "better" players never felt comfortable even if they won their game. Yesterday there Nadal hasn`t any big problem ,so I set on Nadal before the match - I should have known better. At RG Nadal would distroy Verdasco.

and the promise of a "it would play exactly like a normal clay court" was 100% real with the original company, not with the one they finally hired...

you never had problems seeing the ball on red clay.. ok, but dont you agree that its a much better option to see the play in this blue?

Who cares if it's maybe ever so slightly more visible if it's already at a very good visible level with normal clay? Was that study sponsored by Tiriac or the company making the blue clay btw?

Do you want fluorescent balls (Tiriac's next idea) next year just because it further improves the visibility for the blind folks a teeny tiny bit?

The thing is....Tiriac's messed up. Lots of players will associate blue clay with shit clay now. You know how they're all pretty much stuck in their little rituals (Rafa: "Don't touch my bottles", Sharapova never touching a line during changeovers etc.) and believes.

He had the chance for it to be "blue clay = holy mama, this stuff is freaking awesome to play on", but the romanian Grand Lord of tennis failed to use it.

I hate that tournament anyway for what it done to Hamburg.  That was a proper clay court tournament

3 - It is just clay but is dyed isn't it, so doesn't matter if its red, blue, green with white spots on it

believe me, nobody will stay away coz of the colour of the clay

its slippery because they made the ground too hard and the clay too fine. surely they will be able to make a better blue court next time. i guess we will have a lot of tournaments with different claycolours in the future. its great for tv.

Personally I have to still agree with you control-z, totally a dark green. There are pictures on the getty images homepage (that I won't post here because I'm scared of getting sued  - go look yourself) that show his lovely green pants.

They have tested these courts and there is no difference between this clay and red clay. I think it is a visual thing - the players see blue courts, they think hard courts.

i just went with what was said on internet, personally thought it was orange but scared to be labelled once again   

my eye sight isn't the best either, but it did look red. with rafa's superstition I thought he'd never wear pink here again since that that's what he wore when he lost to Söderling in 2009.
