players ain't robots, suck it up. If she's not feeling well, she's not feeling well. Nobody forced you to bet on her, nor did any "dirty evil people with connections to the Polona Hercog betting mafia" offer ridiculously high odds at any time during the match to lure punters into betting on her.

Yeah matty - it's the punters fault if they put money on her.  End of.  The punter should make certain that they are making a decent bet, which in this case it wasn't and they deserve to lose.

As jinkazz just said again she looked shit from basically the beginning, all your 28 day rule would do is the player dragging herself around court for another set because she's scared to retire. As she clearly will be fit enough to play again before the 28 days are over.

Not all medical conditions need 28 days to heal up. Imagine a player retiring with cramps, like Jamie Hampton against Radwanska recently. Should she not have been allowed to compete again within 4 weeks? Would you have wanted her to stay on court for another ...what was it?...3 games in agony, lying on the ground without receiving treatment? Again, because she's scared of being punished for being in pain?

ah ok, thanks. I thought I could just use some tag, copy&paste a URL between the tags and that's that. I tried [ img] but as you can see that just resulted in an empty post.

What a hassle...and I just wanted to post a happy picture of an easter bunny mug to lighten up the mood and atmosphere.

So now I have a perfect, royalty/copyright free picture in my Gallery, but I still see no button to add it to a post. Is it now time for the img tag? Lemme try...

You're failing to address my points about your 28 day rule suggestion completely.

Anyway, players that don't feel well, often see out the first set, maybe trying to win it and then see if they can finish it in a second set. If they don't win it they throw in the towel because they don't see any chance of playing and winning the match in three sets. Possibly after reflecting about the the set they just lost a moment ago. Simply due to the scoring system a set is naturally somewhat of a milestone in every tennis match. Players can simply give up and retire because of what I just said, find a fresh start after a desastrous previous set, be deflated after a highly contested, but lost set, be pumped after winning a tiebreak 24-22 etc. etc.

There's nothing corrupt or bad about that at all and it's not about retiring at "strategic times" (are you suggesting there's a financial gain from betting involved?). I know some people will make you want to believe otherwise, but the vast majority of players don't plan their matches in accordance to betfair or the betting world. In the rare case someone wants to be corrupt however he flat out loses a match, especially if a ridiculous rule like your suggestion was in place. So in the end your rule, as would any rule I can think of spontaneously to be honest, would only punish the fair, genuine players and do absolutely nothing to eradicate anything unfair.
