Roddick has too much pedigree and class (not to mention 2 decent wins against Petz and strangely good Istomin) for me to go against him in matchup vs. Anderson, whose wins vs. Krajicek and Malisse showed little to be confident about.

Translation: Roddick for me.

Andy for me too but that win v Petz was hardly to be called decent, really Petz was pretty awful at times so much so it had a dodgy feel here an there

I fancy Roddick here, but I am far from impressed with him in the last weeks...

I watched the Istomin mathc against Roddick.
And his first serve % in the first set was 34%

Roddick served horribly in the first set, worst I can remember actually, but Istomin couldn't do anything to the 2nd serve, Roddick won something like 70% of the points on 2nd. But his serving did improve a lot in the 2nd.

Istomin didn't like the conditions I think, a little to fast for him. ROddick out maneavered him by slicing a lot to Istomin, and Istomin is poor at handling that, he has no touch of spin needed to control those slices. Roddick knew what to do to beat him.

Istomin did play absolutely horribly, but the conditions had a lot to do with it.

not sure if the conditions are still as windy as during Gulbis game but if so than even more reasons to back Roddick

My concern with going with Roddick would be how poorly he served in the first set against Istomin, first serve pecentage was in the low 30%. So there is that. Still he should be better than the South African on rallies, but Anderson can serve like a beast.

Anderson has changed his toss a bit to try to lower it to adjust to outdoor but that takes time to work

If Roddick is getting a lot of returns back that will be the main favorable sign. Although the stats dude at thesuperdupertennis blog spot says Anderson has a big edge in the stats department.
