Tennis is not about ranking points. Yes, players play tournaments because of them, but ranking points get them somewhere - they get them into the big tournaments etc. Otherwise, the players are not bothered about them. What they play for is money. And if they get to the top, to be famous.

Almagro is not going to say 'I dont want to play a final because then next year I have ranking points to defend'. He is going to say 'I want to win everything, and getting to a final makes me a lot of money.'
He is also going to shout 'towel' angrily at ball kids and gesture to the crowd in a rude fashion too. |

ranking pts more important in wta as they will have a greater bearing on sponsorship earnings than in atp. Wd say the priority for the majority of pros is 1) grand slam win, 2) cash, 3) chasing world number 1 ranking, 4) average tourney wins

and most important u play lesser players than u more often when u higher in the ranks instead otherr way round so u earn more money anfd getting more points

That proves you dont know a lot about tennis in a close match you would think that hold to love is better because the other player cant break you. reality is that at this point of the match, a hold saving bps (virtual mps) can give you the extra you need to win and depress the other player with the chances lost tennis is ALL about momentums. |
