Remaining races

15th Sep Azer
22th Sep Singapore
20th Oct US
27th Oct Mexico
3rd Nov Brazil
23rd Nov Las Vegas
1st Dec Qatar
8th Dec Abu Dhabi

Now red bull have no idea what is wrong with the car, why its fallen back so much. Made slight changes for this weekend but what really stands out is there is a 4 week gap between Singapore and the US races and a 3 week gap between Brazil and Las Vegas.
Surely that's two chances to figure out exactly what is going on or at least get back on level performance with McLaren.
It certainly plays into the hands of red bull and makes Lando's job even tougher to claw back that lead.

Then last weekends qualifying at Monza saw the 1st 6 cars all covered by less than two tenths of a second. With Max a third of second behind the leader having been poor through qualification.
But does the overall picture suggest Ferrari and Mercedes are more hurdles for Lando to navigate. The closer these cars get to each other the more chance of trouble during the race.

Have to see how the qualifying goes tomorrow but after last week and the long breaks between races it appears to me Lando's job is not quite as easy as the market suggests.

Early days, but max fastest in baku. Likely they have taken upgrades off that he didn't like

I always thought Lando was too short for the title, but the spoty price too long in comparison

Max also a lot slower than mercedes on the straight but much faster in corners. If he can get pole he'll take some wing off to counter that straight line speed

I think Lando winning enough of the remaining races or getting enough point swings will need incredible luck tbh, cost me a fair whack covering him but thats life.
Luke against 5/6 olympians on the night gives us big hope, especially as i see sarah and emma making the list, plus i see one of the other female para's making it like poppy. The female para's was far more successful than the men by the looks of it.
All eats into the favs voting the more women on the list but if Luke is the only non Olympian he has a really big pond to fish in.

Must admit I never really follow F1 these days - the sport usually bores the tits off me, as it's more about cars than drivers. Change all the cars and we'd get opposite results every year. That's not really a sport is it?

But, I do understand some groups of petrol heads will support their people in votes such as SPOTY - not convinced how many though these days...?

It's errr, probably double the popularity now due to netflix.  All the kids into it

yeah he was, was just entering sector 3 and was ahead..would of been fastest probably or very close

Might sound a bit of a claim GB, but I personally believe SPOTY has changed, even since that Hamilton win. The ladies have taken over in voting power.
Though that is somewhat of a debate I recognise.

Plus Hamilton did more than win one F1 season to be fair to his voters...

Norris winning would be closer to Murray winning the US open in comparison

you knocking the petrol head vote is like me knocking the athletics vote Laugh both are extremely strong as history has proven. If and a big if lando does pull off this greatest comeback stuff, his vote is going to be seriously watered down by fans of darts and F1 plus neutrals, as will Keely's by general fans of the Olympics.

Luke's best chance - no lando and many female olympians (with the unknown of pub goers watching)
keely's best chance - both luke and lando, a split of male/female olympians
lando's best chance - no luke and many female olympians

Thats pretty much where i see it

Luke and Lando are close sharing sm posts about each other, so will share fans and if only one made the shortlist would get a massive push off the other

tbf even though i think ive wasted dough covering Lando, i think he has the toughest task coz Luke makes the list as far as im concerned.

Still don't see a sole win (if it happens) in F1 is same as multiple season wins which Hamilton had...

Its the manor of the achievement, you seem to miss this point...its not just Luke you casually ignore regarding this fact is it lol

your logic is all tunnel vision, what they won. Not the journey
By:

or what they didn't win in Luke's case lol

F1 has now a huge female following, google it
By:

When: 13 Sep 24 17:25
Not saying he can't win it, but I wouldn't back at short prices just because he won F1, if up against a women's gold olympian.

The comparison to Hamilton is just as GB mentioned him as example army

your overplaying Keely's hand stu, the recent shift in women voting is all down to the national ladies footy team..they won't be turning up en masse this year.

Denise Lewis 2nd 2000 single gold
Jess Ennis 2nd 2012 single gold

Kelly won in 2004 with DOUBLE GOLD

history not on your side

The only reason 3 women have won the last 3 awards is coz of the impact they had, not down to this new women voting power you've dreamt up in ya head

emma rad did something amazing, not losing a set at young age
beth was part of a championship winning team
mary won an extremely poor year of sport and had a shirt story

im not getting this total shift in voting down to its now 90% women voting CrazyCrazy
By:
armagnac
When: 13 Sep 24 18:25
woman watch footy
woman watch F1
woman watch darts

if there has been a shift i'd say more women now watch a lot more different sport than they did when womens athletics had its spoty heydey from 2000-2012.

if there has been a shift, its the fact older ladies probably don't watch the above sports and stick with athletics mostly, whereas the new younger generation are growing up with these sports coz of there tv growth and growth in general.

its a proven fact all the 3 sports above are now being watched by more women since 2000, i'd be gobsmacked if more women are watching athletics now than in 2000.

it all points to athletics getting fewer votes from this younger generation of females, its really not rocket science
By:
armagnac
When: 13 Sep 24 18:40
Men still dominate tv voting

spoty since 2000 18 men 6 women
strictly 12 men 9 women
iac 13 men 10 women

going by your logic especially concerning the latter two there, where we all know its probably way more women vote than men coz we can't be arsed. why is it that men win more than women ??
By:
armagnac
When: 13 Sep 24 18:51
jill scott won iac, and two other members of the womens footy team won spoty in the last two years.

keely is best friends with lioness Ella Toone, does that mean all those female footy voters will all vote for her ? i guess it all depends whether they watch athletics/F1/darts as well as footy lol

tbf the Ella Toone connection is a plus but end of the day keely is an athlete not an england footy player
