Breaking some RTV rules but the most real runner in the jungle this year.

Not got angry with Sam even though he's annoyed the feck out of him, treated him like a son

Eats into Sam's vote massively for me, helps Josie out but i think bellow on the form he has shown can win

Big tony has a heart of gold, the way he watches over the women to make sure they are ok is a massive vote winner..he goes right of his way to do this and will continue too do so. This calm caring side is unique to him in camp.

Don't know if tony is gonna talk about his nan who died, but they have delayed the funeral till he gets back so he won't miss it.
if he don't talk about it in camp, there is a chance its mentioned in his letter, hopefully saying how his nan would of been proud. i think i read his whole family watch the show and wanted him to crack on with it and not return. so guessing nanna was a watcher too.

Report armagnac December 2, 2023 3:32 PM GMT
His positive comments are taking off now, seen so many that highlight the main points i mentioned. if you compare tony to all the men that have won, no one comes close to him..king of the jungle for a world boxing champion that ticks every box of previous winners is the most fitting title of all.
Report armagnac December 2, 2023 3:38 PM GMT
The trial tease is 6 mins in where he seems to be doing well, running comical commentary is his MO that makes trials go from usual tedium that people go make a tea to cure the boredom, too actually enjoyable and watchable. This on the run in, just pushes him on and gives him continuous momentum. accompanied by being the gentle giant around camp, looking after the girls and babysitting Sam makes him unstoppable force of nature.

True and deserving King me thinks

Report armagnac December 2, 2023 7:04 PM GMT

Oh dear Army.

Report armagnac December 4, 2023 6:34 PM GMT
She would of been proud of him for sure, its human nature to say these things slippy and show emotion, some do it privately some don't. i feel tony is the former
Report stu December 4, 2023 6:41 PM GMT
TBF, if they did want him to win (still a big if) then showing him talking about it could seal a deal for sure. If they didn't want him winning the might just ignore it though, and leave it on the editing floor...
Report armagnac December 4, 2023 6:44 PM GMT
Tony has been very brave fulfilling his contract and been strong in keeping his emotions in check, i think he was very close to his nan and all his family...scousers are a close unit family wise, you know like the boswells in bread, not saying the rest of the county are not but northerners in general are. its a harder way of life up north compared to the south, its always been that way. meaning family's are a lot closer to each other and i say that being born and bred in the south.
Report armagnac December 4, 2023 6:46 PM GMT
correct stu, a significant portion of the audience will not know about his loss or what he's going through and how strong he is being.
Report armagnac December 4, 2023 6:58 PM GMT
im not sure its about winning or losing for the prods, even though it would be massive for his chances. Its more about what one person is going through in there lives, personal struggles etc and more importantly there willingness to discuss it. josie's weight issues and sam's ADHD are examples of this, tony's recent loss might just be way too soon for him to be pushed on or shown. he clearly said this after the letter, his life is very private to him. you have to feel this is tony's decision whether this is aired or not.
Report SlippyBlue December 4, 2023 7:28 PM GMT
Yes of course, I was just joshing but you're no doubt correct about Tony in that respect.
Report armagnac December 4, 2023 7:29 PM GMT
Tony said: "I signed the day before she passed away, so there was no going back then. If I sign something, I honour my agreement. In an ideal world I would have left it but I had signed. I was coming, so I am here. But I am going back to bury her on the 15th. I was going to renegade if I couldn't move the burial date. I can bury her now when I get back."

Paying tribute to Rose, who he described as "the boss of the house" on social media, he added: "She was in a home. And she told my mum 'I'll be able to watch that[I'm A Celeb] every night'. So yeah, it is what it is. She'll be watching, you know, from wherever she is and whatever she's doing. She was a diamond of an old lady. She was wonderful."

He continued: "I come from a single parent household, my dad left when I was 10. So when you come from where I come from, your Nan helps around a lot because your mother goes to work. So your nan is your second mum. She was a lovely, lovely woman, and she had the heart of gold, so she'll be missed by all of us. Me and my brothers and my mother and my dad by the way as well."

Laid back Tony, a former cruiserweight world champion who also twice defeated David Haye, said he signed up for the show mainly to give his kids some memories and fun as they normally watch the series at home in Liverpool, whilst his wife Rachael also fancied a trip to Australia with their three sons. "They'll be here having an absolute scream while I'm sitting there starving," he said with a grin.

Diehard Everton fan Tony does not class himself as a celebrity and despite his past in the ring, has no plans for a big entrance or for bust ups when he arrives in camp this week.

He said: "I'm sure I'll just be another one of the characters. I get along with anyone, I don't have any problems, any issues. I'm pretty easy going. My wife says to me, I'm that laid back if I was any more laid back I would be asleep. I was always calm fighting and I love fighting. It's the best thing. It was the only thing I'm good at. So yeah, nothing fazes me. Nothing bothers me.

"Life was much easier when I could punch people in the face and get paid. Life's a lot more difficult now that I'm out of that game, and I haven't hit someone in the face since, I can't remember who I fought[in the ring], he obviously didn't hit me very hard! The last time I took or gave a punch would have been that night[fighting Oleksandr Usyk in 2018] and I have no intentions of giving one or taking one anytime soon."

ony has criticised Nigel Farage on social media in the past, describing him as an "absolute maniac" for his opinion on immigration in 2022. But he insisted he would give him the benefit of the doubt in camp whilst also giving current politicians a verbal jab.

On Farage, Tony added: "He's just another human being exactly the same as myself. I don't know him. So, like the other 11 people in there, I'll get to know him and I'm sure we'll go from there. So he's another human. He's just another person. He hasn't done anything to me personally. So yeah, you just find a way to get along with people. You're going into a camp, you're basically all living in each other's pockets. Get on with each other. I don't see why you wouldn't want it and why you would want to make it a nice experience and a pleasant experience for anyone. So yeah.

"I haven't got a clue about politics. And nor do I want to have a clue about politics. People who do have a clue about politics look like they haven't got a clue what to do. So I'm just happy go lucky. I'm from a different world to these people. And I don't actually class myself as a celebrity. I'm just someone who was good at punching people in the face."

Despite being a hard man of the ring, Tony insisted he had lots of fears going into camp. He enjoyed cuddling a koala for photos after the interview but is not looking forward to meeting other Aussie animals.

He said: "There's not much that I'm not scared of to be honest. You wouldn't think that but that's the truth. I'm sure it'll work itself out. I mean, who likes rats? Who likes mice? Who likes snakes? Who likes cockroaches? No one. If you show me someone who does like those things, I'll show you a weirdo. It should be a fascinating experience to say the least."

In the era of free app votes we have Sam most appealing to a younger demographic and Tony appealing to an  older demographic, a more northern one and probably a more male fan base.

n1 TB. A shame he couldn't get over the line (I blame those pesky kids) but it was a good ride
Report armagnac December 11, 2023 12:11 PM GMT
robbed borg by the app, too many kids were watching/voting...most children have smart phones passed down from there parents these days and tony couldn't compete in that 8 - 13 age bracket i suspect. guessing he would of got 95% of there votes
Report armagnac December 11, 2023 12:24 PM GMT
i think another factor tony came up short is, lots of families with kids in that age bracket won't have smart phones coz wouldn't be able afford passing one down. cost of living etc, resale it for some food shopping.
So you'd have to think the parent/parents although would have wanted to vote for tony themselves, would be pressured by the kids to vote sam instead.
hindsight is great
Report SlippyBlue December 11, 2023 12:27 PM GMT
Tony was my best result and it's a shame he didn't win as he was excellent value.

Still, whatever he does now people will know they are dealing with an absolute diamond of a bloke and best of luck to him.
Report armagnac December 11, 2023 12:40 PM GMT
Tony would of won many a series, again SM beat. parents posting tony to win but not actually voting for him coz the kids have already voted for Sam. funny how he closed the gap when the kids would have been in bed when the vote reopened, along with the farage transfer. kids would of been up early watching before school, very happy no doubt.
Report GeorgeBrush December 11, 2023 9:31 PM GMT
Dunno if we read too much into these things. Mems liked sam, the mem vote was split.  Some kids preferred tony.

Sam was just more popular ultimately. I daresay tony would have won given another week, but this wasn't particularly close, and we weren't unlucky
Report Angela Rebecchi December 11, 2023 10:54 PM GMT
Think MEMs preferred Tony by a nice margin. Enough to have him win it if it was phone only voting. Alas it isn't and Sam won with ease, as the market suggested the minute the votes started coming in !
Report GeorgeBrush December 11, 2023 11:27 PM GMT
It's too easy an excuse for me.  He was big with the mems. Mems had the app too, they can't be arsed phone voting either
