I've openly admitted that my pre-launch backing was foolish.

I'm not just trying to "ramp", I genuingly believe(d) that his price is value with who was ahead of him in the market. There is always hope that one big moment comes along, but yes, he looks to have blown it now.

I need to thank whoever backed him off the boards once the line ups were confirmed.  I'd made him pre show fave and was going to back him with the bookies.  Managed £65 on him   before I realised there was a Betfair market and it was an arb so decided not to back him again.  Next thing I know he was down to 5/1.  Nice lad, too nice really, which makes him dull and uninteresting.

More than any other show "Nice" wins when the numbers thin out. Ant [or Holly Willobooby] & Dec can usually arrange that.

I think if he had just a little bit more about him he would make the top 3.  Just don't think there's enough about him or he's done enough to entertain.  He might be the nicest camp mate but they are all nice this year really.

Bring back Lady C, Duncan Bannatyne, David VD, and resurrect Eric Bristow.

Yeah I orginally backed him because his niceness and the core vote. Problem is everyone's nice this year, and there are so many loud extroverts. Still my biggest green. You can do it James!

While I think everyone is nice this year, a lot of them have done things to undermine that. Harry slating nick will have put some people off, fleur and Emily just seem to annoy a lot of people, some people don’t like that Anne won’t do trials. John can be annoying also and a bit try hard. Nick seems a bit serious and also a bit try hard. Rita can also be annoying. I think James is the least offensive. His problem is that he seems to lack any sort of personality.
He needs to have some good, funny moments and I think he becomes a contender.

Fair to say James is the most likely to benefit the most from Anne’s elimination as well
Apart from Harry the other 4 are extremely marmite with the audience, Nick for being up himself and the other three just really try hard and annoying.
James apart from genuine and nice is also a big default runner imo

James has also been giving up food for Harry to eat more, in the queue for the pub it didn’t go unnoticed how James was wiping the bugs off Harry, again looking after him, it appears they have struck up quite a Bond we’ve not really been shown.
It appears they have the best friendship in camp, which hopefully we’ll now see with just 6 left, hopefully anyone voting Harry will now throw one or two votes James way to.

Another thing worth noting is James bandmates who are begging for votes constantly, have a vast network with one band member from Birmingham, another from Edinburgh, one from Exeter while James has connections to Chester and Bournemouth.

As boring as James is, his potential vote has a great deal of diversity with the last added bonus he’s a mems perfect son

It’s gotta be a pretty rare scenario where the pre show fav is now 5th fav of 6 having not put a foot out of place and is clearly the least attention seeking and the nicest camp mate.
It’s a shame we don’t have the prices for dougie throughout the final wee, although they are probably buried in the threads somewhere

Just looked through old pages - Seems Dougie hit 15s during that year, but it was full of no hopers. In the final, Mark was 1.3 and Dougie was 4s, despite Dougie romping the polls.

Tinchy was the standout in terms of getting votes from twitter from non show watchers ever (in my book at least)

So if you compared his twitter to his vote percentage you might be able to get a semi accurate number of what votes James might garner from his twitter following (but you would have to minus a certain percentage given he is british and would have more followers who watch the show then tinchy had)

Thanks Horse, I would have expected that. Markets and polls can be wrong but they're not usually massively out of step with each other.

However handsome and sociable Mark is he has the "Essex" problem ie accent, no talent, not real job, which might have retarded him slightly, just preventing the win.

I've been trying to look for ways for Harry to lose it away but can't find any. He must be tired, hungry and grumpy by now but he knows how to keep control to win this and a bit of grumpyness will not scratch him anyway. Will be one of their landslide winners imo.

If there was a move for 2nd (but no further) I could imagine it coming from James. I think IAC would quite like one of them to break from the pack to make a (at least a half hearted) challenge to Harry.

One thing I will say about the polls is that I have been unable to find a decent one. Tell mix opens at the beginning of the show and stays open so if people change their mind it doesn’t show, you can maybe do checks each day and measure change but even then I don’t think the sample size is big enough. You also have to take into account who does the polls, I’m not sure myself what sort of demographic would vote in polls but I’m sure it doesn’t capture the full spectrum of voters.
The only other poll I’ve found is DS and they had Iain Lee as their winner last year. If they couldn’t predict Toff who absolutely romped it I can’t Really trust it.
I think Facebook top comments and twitter usage is a better gauge but even that is flawed due to demographics.
I think there’s a place for SM and polls but I wouldn’t want to rely on them solely. Need to balance it with what you see.
Personally I think Harry wins by default, Em, Fleur and John are all annoying (I actually don’t find Em annoying but whatever, people do), James just hasn’t done enough so Harry wins.
I don’t think it’s a landslide though, he’s no Toff. Toff has Fleur levels of coverage but was great with it. Harry last couple of weeks has been a non event, he’s riding off week 1 and he’s shown a bit of a nasty streak as well where as Toff was flawless. I think Harry is likely on 40% of the vote with 5 horses and gets to about 70% at 2 horses. I think James is capable of taking it at the line but will need some serious push to make it happen
