Explaining how the producers "have been kind enough to ask [him] for the last three years", Andre admitted that he thought his window of opportunity had come and gone.

"I remember the last year when they asked, we couldn't do it because we still had the reality show and these sorts of things we were committed to, and you need a certain amount of hours a week to film, etc," he said.

"So I said to [manager] Claire, 'They're not gonna ask me next year, they won't'. I said, 'The show's too big now, it's become the biggest show on TV and they don't need to ask anyone, people need to ask them'.

"And then when they asked us this year, Claire and I looked at each other and went, 'Gosh!' We didn't think it was going to happen."

Meanwhile, Andre already has someone in mind for his professional partner.

"The only one I know is Ola Jordan because I've met her many times in the past and we always joked for years... 'I'll only do it if you're my partner', and she said, 'We'll only have you on if you're my partner'," he revealed.

"And the joke has sort of gone on and on, but there's every chance that Ola's not going to be my partner now, because they don't tell the partners or the people until the day before, because they have to match weight and height and things like that. So I have no idea."

Andre will find out who he is paired with during the Strictly Come Dancing launch show on September 5.

This is looking like a very good line-up so far. Apart from Daniel O'Donnel. I really don't like him. But, if he turns out to be a great dancer I won't let that stop me voting for him.
