First rumour from tellymix/Metro.....

The X Factor 2014 is set to get another new, fifth judge for the live shows… and a new category for them to mentor.

Louis Walsh, Cheryl Cole, Simon Cowell and Mel B kicked off auditions last month and will go into the live shows later this year mentoring – in no particular order – the Boys, Girls, Overs and Groups.

But – according to the Metro newspaper – a fifth ‘wildcard’ category will be introduced along with a brand new judge to mentor them for the finals.

The wild card category will be made up of a mix of acts from the other categories who failed to make it into the live finals in their original respective groups of budding performers.

“Simon Cowell is planning on including a wildcard category which will be mentored by a mystery fifth judge,” an insider told the newspape today. “There was a creative meeting three weeks ago and plans are now being put into action.”

According to the tabloid, favourites for the role include Rita Ora and Mary J Blige.

Both have appeared on the show in the past, but Rita has publicly ruled herself out of the show.

But the new fifth judge spot is a much reduced role compared to the other judges’, having to only appear on the live finals and missing out on the room auditions, arena auditions, bootcamp and judges’ houses stages.

This may mean that stars who couldn’t commit to the full series could take up the spot.

The insider added: “A fifth judge will prevent the deadlock and add some spice to the panel during the live shows.

“Rita Ora and Mary J Blige are currently in discussions with show bosses.”

The X Factor returns to ITV later this year.

Will Lauren get a bounce?

Looking at the past series, 6 had B2 and sing-off, 3 had a bounce and 3 didn't.

Making Lauren's chances 50-50.

Question on the official site.....

Why did the Stereo Kicks leave the competition?

There were too many members

The competition with the final five acts was tough

You didn't hear them all sing enough

Louis didn't choose good enough songs

The public didn't vote for them

I'm guessing the last answer may be correct Crazy

themes update from tmix

no clarification over sing off or no sing off really (reads most likely no sing off?)

The latest X Factor 2014 theme has been confirmed as a very festive Christmas special!

It’s the live semi-final on The X Factor UK this weekend as the final four acts fight for a spot in the final.

Lauren Platt, Andrea Faustini, Fleur East and Ben Haenow are all left in the competition and will be singing twice again this weekend.

The first set of song choices will take the form of a Countdown to Xmas theme, show producer Mark Sidaway tweeted.

He wrote online this week: “X Factor goes festive this weekend with our Countdown to Xmas theme”

The second theme has not yet been confirmed but in most previous year’s at this stage it’s been a free choice of ‘Songs That Will Get You Into The Final’.

After the remaining four piece have each performed twice, the public will then vote and three of the remaining contestants will make it through to the last live show of the series in front of a 10,000 strong audience at Wembley Arena.

This weekend’s live show will also see another trio of guest performances with Fifth Harmony, former X Factor champ Sam Bailey and Frozen star Idina Menzel.

Andrea shortening in the outright and elimination. Guess it makes sense. They'll probably do what they can to dump him this week, but if they can't it means he has a good chance and the voters have warmed to him again
Report topcattt December 4, 2014 10:10 PM GMT
Regards a sing off. Surely its like every year before. ie -- if the vote is going the way Simon wants it to go then no sing off and if not then its the Wombles of Wimbledon making full use of the things that they find. Make Andrea sing Diamond
Dogs with lightning taking out Mel B and Shettle.

Same old plan for Andrea - if you like if before you'll like it now and vice versa. Not going to get any new fans with those.

ROFL at them giving Lauren a song that was rejected last week. Only possible plus is she will pick all the OD/SK fans now SK are done.

Classic MEM stuff for Ben - hard to see him not making the final with those.

You could be absolutely loaded like Louis and still be a lapdog, how does he sleep at night forever being someone elses b1tch, especially at his age?

Anyway, the X-Factor Facebook statues of Fleur standing outside her bus is going down like a lead balloon. It looks like the public are almost completely aware that it is a stitch-up for her to win. The curtains are drawing closed on the show it seems, they might have just pushed it too far this year.

Just because someone is a big price, isn't is just chucking money away in hope unless you have some kind of grounding to the possibility of andrea making 2nd. I'm not saying it definitively won't happen, but you seem to have backed it solely on the basis that if he happens to make 2nd you can lay off. There are plenty of horses running at 100/1+ each day that you could bet, in the hope they get near the front near the end on that basis?

bear, why 6pm? Try `just after my bowl of Shreddies`.

dao: everything you say is correct. However, I don`t think I`m backing him just because his odds are a big number. I`m  backing him because I think that big number is bigger than his real chances. If he was 1,000,000/1 to win, we`d all throw a pound or two at it. Somewhere along the line he crosses in to value territory.
Given his widespread early popularity, I just feel that 30+ has entered that value range, and have thrown my pound or two at it. Not necessarily with the intention of laying of if he reaches the last two, that was just an idea for Benjy, which I think is a better value play than simply backing him to reach the last two.
In fact, if he did reach last two, I almost certainly wouldn`t be laying off, as whatever had gone right for him that saw him pass Ben or Fleur, may well have been enough to actually win it.

From Tellymix

singles this year, it’s been revealed.

Overs singers Fleur East and Ben Haenow have both recorded the same track as their potential winner’s released, while Andrea Faustini has his own song.

Fleur and Ben have covered One Republic track Something I Need while Andrea has put down vocals for Whitney Houston’s I Didn’t Know My Own Strength.

However only the top two acts will get the chance to showcase their tracks on Sunday night’s live show.

And of course the winner alone will released their version straight after the final and launch a bid for the Christmas Number 1.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper today: “Whoever wins, the song choices are very strong. They are set to be sure-fire hits.”

What do you make of the this year’s X Factor’s winner’s songs? Tell us in the comments below!

Going into the live final at Wembley Arena this week, Fleur is in prime position to be this year’s winner at 4/11, with Ben second favourite at 5/2 and previous favourite Andrea the longshot for the title at 16/1.

Aoife Heffron at bookies **** said last night: “The X Factor final is upon us and Fleur East is reigning supreme as the 4/11 favourite.

“Andrea went from being the red hot favourite to win to a massive 16/1 shot to win and as punters steer clear of the Italian singer it looks like all he will walk away with is third place.”
Report cnman December 12, 2014 8:09 AM GMT
Very odd for Ben and Fleur to have the same song.
