Blanchett biggest lock, in the major categories anyways. Leto also looking like a shoe in, but could see Fassbender still in contention. Obviously going to win the BAFTA and that visibility could cause a few voters to rethink.

Some controversy over Blachett because of the Woody Allen allegations of child abuse re-emerging. I've seen Blue Jasmine and she is excellent in it. Far better than Bullock in Gravity. And I suspect Hollywood will rally to the defence of Allen like many of them did Polanski anyway. Fascinating that Elia Kazan can get turned on by so many but rapists are defended.

Don't see what the news/non news surrounding Woody Allen will have to do with Blanchett winning/not winning.
Also feel 12 Years is almost a lock to win Best Pic, anything above 1.35 is decent value. By Oscar night I'd anticipate the odds to be around 1.20, maybe less. Its going to dominate the Bafta's and its important feel will push it to a clear victory. The fact February is black history month isn't going to hurt matters either.

Think gravity might be worth a few $ for best picture at $6 plus..... It tied with 12 YAS at the producers guild awards .... Most of the voters there also vote in the academy .... The guild award has a better than 75% strike rate of matching best picture at Academy A. Yes the fav. Will be hard to beat but think gravity is overs and is most certainly a live chance of the upset.

Gravity probably worth a bit of a gamble at current prices. Seems like lots of voters feel forced to give 12 Years best pic because of the subject matter rather than loving the movie. Globes and Bafta it wins best pic but picks up only one other award (Ejiofor being British probably helped that one win as well). Strange to have a movie winning best picture without it gobbling up other categories on the way.

Just running thru some stats with American award season I've come up with GRavity close to a 40 % chance of winning. It's not as big a slam dunk in the states of winning as people think.... Gravity is a pretty unique film.... This year reminds me a bit of when CRash upset Brokeback MOuntain...... Enough older consecutive voters didn't warm to the subject matter And crash got up. Gravity is really well done and will not offend anyone...... 12 years a slave is a great film but there' is plenty of old white male voters It only takes small % to feel " another slavery film showing the bad white man " for this favourite to get rolled.
Anyways I've backed gravity at 6.40 at still think it's decent overs at anything above $3.80

The art of killing for feature doc. although easily the best in the field is pretty hard film to stomach 20 feet from stardom .... American feel good doco think it's also overs
Best for. Film this has a strong history of favs. Getting rolled. It's the one category that I believe you are a chance of a roughie getting up Have backed the hunt.
All other favs I wouldn't take on....... Best supporting actress I actually think j Lawrence was the better performance But she is young and won it last year so think 12 years a slave girl probably wins.
Gravity $6. 20 feet from stardom $2.50 The hunt $6.40

Agree with those three picks ghost. All good value. The Square could spoil in Documentary but I don't see it being Act of Killing, can't see the academy going for that.

Had my biggest bet ever on 12 YAS, not watched it just hoped the Oscars opted for the guilt trip and they clearly did.
That said, i saw Gravity and thought it was mind numbingly boring. My fav film of the year was Capt Philips, followed by American Hustle. Oscars voters must live in a parallel universe to the rest of us, it's little wonder these film barely take anything at the box office.
