The Polish vote a bit of a conundrum. I thought it was pretty jolly ESC tosh but conventional wisdom (I think) is mostly women and gays vote so how does it get 5th? Decent diaspora vote I guess but does that explain it?

Probably a little of both. Horny Poles missing their wives and horny british guys forced to watch

but 5th overall in the pv? Only made final once since 2005 and then was 24th. Germany gives it most votes so no reall voting block as neither east nor west really. An interesting one.

I still think it's mainly a diaspora vote that had a song to vote for that couldn't have been more perfect for Polish guys away from their families

Yes for the UK but there aren't poles everywhere shirley. The fact they won the UK vote suggests either multi voting or a pretty low total vote imo.

Poles working all over Europe. Especially Ireland, where they topped the pv too and Sweden, where they were 3rd

True, but they haven't had a song, video and stage presentation that would appeal so much to young male guest workers

Watching and voting are different things. The Greeks and Turks you could rely on to get any old shyte to the final and beyond.

most votes or seats? not had a bet but my own "polling" has them ahead. That said I see the Dutch equivalent have seen a drop in their vote.

Funny seeing the right wing anti gay/xenophobic Daily Mail trying to bus them; shows how Tory led it is. Farage is teflon man in that a lot of the GBP just see him as being bullied by the media. Be lucky to get 10% next year.

Missed it but like I say I have them ahead plus the fact that their supporters are more likely to vote and 4/7 is a good price. I'm thinking of breaking the bank to get some 4/11 ish a No vote in Scotland.

Yep. Early signs are that UKIP are doing surprising well in the locals = p1ssing up in the Europeans

Went to vote at 6pm and asked for turnout. Very low turnout in a relatively affluent area. About 10%. Even counting for another 4 hours and postal votes and it looks low. Went on Oddschecker to bet on low turnout but no markets. Closed when polls opened? In the GE you can bet on turnout in running.

They love novelty, in an ESC context George - Russian grannies, Jedward, Poland this year, & Austria of course, sadly. Bearded drag act cost me my biggest ever tv betting win. Netherlands winning semi 1 softened the blow.
