I think what BF have told Shirley is wrong. As soon as someone is appointed national coach they need to settle the market and not wait for Noel King to finish his three games.

I hate that phrase. It is completely unnecessary other than to convey that the reader is stupid and would have made a dreadful error but for the writer's solicitous intervention.

I haven't played in this market but the interpretation of those rules posted seem perfectly clear. If someone is 'in charge' for three games in a row, bf will consider them the next national coach for the purposes of the market. It's not relevant if a longer term manager is appointed, as long as those three games are played out.

It would depend upon the how the FAI would word any announcement in that scenario. There wouldn't appear to be any good reason for MON to accept the position but not be in charge for a friendly.

I mean from the FAI pov. He might be given a later official start date and sit in the stands. In that case King is the winner.
