I think what BF have told Shirley is wrong. As soon as someone is appointed national coach they need to settle the market and not wait for Noel King to finish his three games.
By:
Who will be appointed as the next national coach of the Republic of Ireland National Team?
1. Subject to paragraph 2 , an appointment described by the Football Association of Ireland as ‘interim’, ‘caretaker’, ‘temporary’ or similar, will not constitute national coach. 2. Notwithstanding paragraph 1, It should not matter what the subject to's are. The main para should apply. |
By:
Exactly! Market should be settled once someone (MON) is appointed unless King has already looked after three games. As soon as the appointment is made the clock stops

....full senior international games (including, for the avoidance of doubt, friendly games), will be consider.....
I hate that phrase. It is completely unnecessary other than to convey that the reader is stupid and would have made a dreadful error but for the writer's solicitous intervention. I've backed King. This article http://www.independent.ie/sport/republic-of-ireland -to-face-latvia-in-friendly-on-november-15-29715906.html seems to indicate that they will only start negotiations on Monday - will O'Neill play hard to get? |

Betfair's latest response baffles me. I don't want to be involved in this until there's some clarity.

By:
We have full clarity now

Would be hard for them to make it any clearer tbh

Betfair Helpdesk @BetfairHelpdesk 17m
Hello again! I'm told we will wait for confirmation about who will be taking charge of the game on the night before we settle the market. Hope this helps! |
By:
It makes no sense at all! Why wait until his third game before settling once a permanent manager has been announced? That is arbitrary!
By:
It doesn't make any sense, its madness. But madness seems to be running rampant nowadays, its everywhere.
By:
Indeed. Clearly got this wrong.

I haven't played in this market but the interpretation of those rules posted seem perfectly clear. If someone is 'in charge' for three games in a row, bf will consider them the next national coach for the purposes of the market. It's not relevant if a longer term manager is appointed, as long as those three games are played out.
By:
bearThey have clarified it on twitter. End of story |

By:
Tbf it's a tricky one. Betfair will make it up later, I wouldn't trust anything they say now
By:
I've trusted what they said and bet accordingly
I think they would find it hard to go back on their position |
By:
It's not at all tricky. The primary rule is Who will be appointed as the next national coach of the Republic of Ireland National Team?
The rest are what ifs one isn't. Their mkt ops have got distracted from the key objective. |
By:
I don't
![]() Tbh I wouldn't expect to win if Mon is appointed before the friendly. The bet for me is that he won't be |
By:
I'm betting on betfairs twitter response to Alex
Betfair Helpdesk @BetfairHelpdesk 3h @Alexvanwrinkled Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, Alex. If Noel King takes charge of ROI's next game, even if a new manager has Expand Betfair Helpdesk @BetfairHelpdesk 3h @Alexvanwrinkled been appointed, Noel King will be settled as the winner of the market as he would have been in charge for three games. |

It would depend upon the how the FAI would word any announcement in that scenario. There wouldn't appear to be any good reason for MON to accept the position but not be in charge for a friendly.

There would Cider - he's a right lazy c unt

I mean from the FAI pov. He might be given a later official start date and sit in the stands. In that case King is the winner.
