Bang to form all week. Francine odds on

I'm backing the magician to qualify. I usually loathe them and thought this guy was reasonable and for the MEM's he's good looking.
Lay of the day at the odds has to be the second voice reject Alex. |

Magician is James More ^^

This is my take
I like Francine, she's very talented imo and hasn't done "Jordan" yet. She's been trading at a higher price than Alex all week in the outright, yet lo and behold, come the semi she's odds on and he's 5/1. I'm not sure whether Alex is any good or not, Asanda is just average, but she's a child and they never slate kids. One of the singers (Asanda or Alex) will probably go in trap 2. So it's a question of balancing whether they want another child act in the final, but then she's black, so that adds another dimension, and one complicated by Joseph Hall. Anybody's guess about their thinking on these two and obviously whether Alex is any good is an issue. And they might put the perceived threat in trap 2 to help Francine win the heat. In which case trap 2 might qualify as runner up. When I picked my final 10 (after the first semi final) I only had Francine out of this lot in it so I personally can't consider anyone else but at odds on I'm sitting back again. I had the 3 front runners from the last semi so got the prods intentions slightly wrong, although I did have James More among my list of possible wildcarders. Again with him it depends if he is any good on the night but there's never been a magician in the final and he's been set up perfectly for a ramp with Stevie Pink fresh in the memory from last night. There's 3 dance acts which is another complication as it could be a dance off with the judges declaring a "clear winner" They will be positive towards AJ + Chloe, that's a given, but they had a ballroom act in last years final and I reckon on that basis it will be faint praise, Poppin Ron hasn't had air time and hasn't got charisma, so on that basis I think they could make a play for the Shockerellas, but they would need to throw the kitchen sink at them. |

Given the number of singers I think most people would have had Francine down for a pimp slot in a weak semi.
She's also rather annoying and not the most voteable, so like the Luminites I'd expect anyone who could beat her, Alex in particular, to be on early. |
By:
Altho tbh I don't think either Alex or the kid are hugely voteable
By:
She hasn't been smashed into odds on RMB, she's opened up odds on. Same with all the other heats. More likely its either a shrewdie with itchy fingers or good odds compiling
By:
Very true. Compilers are too smart
. Think the magician TQ could be a touch of value, though he could be up early and rubbish! |
By:
A family audience won't vote for a guy spinning on a spike
By:
I hope he has a less 'shocking' trick for the semi
By:
Its not just the fact there are a lot of singers, its also the fact that she's very talented. Her Jordan impersonation is mint.
By:
Yes, she's talented. She wouldn't be a cert to win a tough semi, even from pimp slot. Hence the easy Friday semi.

I saw Hans Klok's Houdini Experience last year and it was a brilliant show.
That was one of the guest acts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vFfju71ggo She was absolutely stunning There were a couple of Cuban acrobats who were even better and simply amazing. |

"Given the number of singers I think most people would have had Francine down for a pimp slot in a weak semi."
This ^. Doesn't have to be insiders. Second place I think TPTB would like AJ & Cloe but they wouldn't be too bothered with Poppin' Ron or James Moore. Just I don't think they want singers from this semi. |
By:
He could have dressed up a little
![]() Back to this semi. The Friday semi is traditionally soft. The tarts with violins 4th place in the final the best to come out of it. I'd be surprised if Francine does as well as that. |
By:
Sorry. Drummer boy scraped 3rd with 9%, a late slot and a big production
By:
The Friday semi is traditionally just before the final. So these have a better chance. But as they're all fodder it won't help them.
By:
True Henry. Different this year. I'd still be very surprised if the winner (Francine) manages top 3.
By:
Shame that they don't just leave the comments to impartial people and draw them randomly on the night, would make for a superb market.
By:
Would be dull to watch tho RMB and we'd have nothing to moan about

My take on this Heat.
I've immediately ruled out Club Town Freaks,Popping Ron,Shockarellas and Chasing the Dream as simply not good enough and extremely unlikely to be pushed. Francine seems the obvious one of the remaining five, but I have reservations about her likability, and therefore wouldn't want to play the short odds on her winning the heat. She does however look a near certainty for Top 3 and therefore almost certain qualification. That leaves any 1 from 4 for the remaining qualifying place.Assuming Attraction plus either Aliki or Jordan qualify tomorrow,we are looking at a final with.... 1x Kids Dance Troupe 1x Shadow Act 1x Comedian 1x Impressionist 2x Kid Singers 1x Band 1x Older Singer 1x Singing Brothers 1x Wild Card 1x Other. I'm therefore ruling out Asanda from being pushed. They already have enough singing kids, they have some black contestants in Gabz and The Luminites, and she's quite annoying anyway. That leaves a choice between Alex,AJ & Chloe and James Moore.I reckon they can get anyone of these 3 home if they want.I don't personally rate Alex too highly, and either Jordan or Aliki tomorrow look a better fit for the final.AJ and Chloe could fill the traditional dance place in the final, although that could possibly be given to Joseph Hall by virtue of the Wildcard. The fact that we've had 3 magicians in the lives does perhaps indicate that they wouldn't mind one in the final, and James Moore has the magician "pimp" and is also by far the most votable of the magic trio. I think it's no easy heat to work out,but my small play is a dutch of AJ & Chloe and James Moore @ 7/5 to qualify.I think it's very likely at least one makes the Top 3,and then I see no reason why TPTB wouldn't mind a final space being taken by either one. |
By:
I like AJ & Chloe. Strictly shows there's an appetite for this type of dancing.
My worries about James Moore is the trick. If it's as gruesome as the one from the audition, then I really can't see him getting many votes. |
By:
If he does a less gruesome trick though, it would make sense for him to be in the final. Because like you Hems, I suspect Joseph will get the wildcard
By:
Exactly the same thinking as you hems, but was hoping for a better to qualify price on James.
AJ and Chloe seem good, but can see them getting the chop if they make the top 3. They're also more raunchy and less cute than Kai and Natalia so not especially convinced. Could be wildcard candidates? |
By:
Chloe is a little sexpot, but a great dancer. They're better dancers and their routine was far more striking than Kai & Natalia.
By:
just sent you a message five leaves
By:
ok, cheers clyde, will take a look and reply after the Oaks
By:
I'm you tubing the runners again, my record this week is rubbish so far.
One of the mistakes I've made is thinking some of the runners could up there game, when the truth is there first performance was there "A" game and could only go down hill.AJ & Chloe I liked them 8/10 Alex Keirl no,no and no 6/10 Club Town Freaks complete fodder 1/10 Francine Lewis not to my taste 7/10 Popping Ron more filler 5/10 Shockarellas way below the level needed 6/10 James More liked him a lot but will need good judge reaction and running order 9/10 Asanda Jezile I don't like kids acting like adults and her voice is very average 6/10 Chasing The Dream not likey 4/10 |
By:
Specials compilers are usually not very good.
Would Francine compromise Jack at all as the comedy turn? She may have opened short enough but into 1-2 ffs anyone taking those levels would either have to be very confident of the production support, or nuts. |

I seem to be the only one who thinks Alex is quite voteable. I fully expect to see him in the top 3, even if given some Robbie Kennedy treatment.
They will probably go all out for Francine to win, and then send AJ & Chloe through over Alex assuming they get their way. I thought Stevie Pink was a more likely finalist than James More, but I guess we can't rule him out completely given the competition. |
By:
I quite like him too but 6/4 to qualify looks rather skinny
By:
You've got to think TPTB prefer Alex over the guy who sang Little Things, as he has a mountain to climb tomorrow with Attraction and Aliki.
By:
Yes. He must be sick
By:
Stevie Pink was creepy.
I thought Alex' audition was actually incredible but I hope he doesn't qualify tonight. |
By:
Les Gibson 2011,Paul Burling 2010. Both romped their semi with some so so impressions so Francine has to be a strong jolly if she's kept some surprises up her sleeve (Jordan) and some serious pimping expected
James More looks the chosen magician, not surprising as it was the most energetic and immediate. The singers tonight look weak compared to whats been and whats to come and I think James edges one out for top 3 and then its on who they want |
