Does anyone know how the High st are paying out on 'Top Female' please?  I had £200 on DVO so surmised it would be a 'Dead Heat' but I've a feeling 'Sportingbet' have just voided it and given me my stake back.

Anyone know about the other firms?

Thanks and all the best for Christmas and The New Year

what we know is on the live final night thread Lou; all permutations from joint winners, pay either as second, Kim as second to now void...stan the one to have been on it seems.

Thanks George.  I don't see how it's not a 'Dead Heat' full stop.

Sportingbte aren't at all clear with their 'accounts' section it's all very basic but I'm almost certain they've just payed me my stake back.  That can't be right surely.
Report George Bailey • December 24, 2012 9:54 AM GMT
dead heat at worst I'd have thought...or worst for you would be spoils who called dvo third.,,,for now anyway, I'm on kim so you pays your money. Kim did come 2nd it seems.
Report LOU MACARIS TARTAN B • December 24, 2012 9:58 AM GMT
George what makes you say 'Kim came second' and surely Spoils can't pay out her 2nd and thus DVO third?

Won't troll through hundreds of replies George.  Not to worry i'll keep you posted.

I'm on the phone to Sporting bt now.

Cheers

UPDATE:

Sporting paid out 'Dead Heat' rightly so.  Thus my £200 stake at evens became £100 at evens so my money back in the end which is fair enough I suppose.

Good luck all .................... well most of you!

For me it is totally unacceptable to declare the top female result a dead heat. Firstly it is inconceivable to me that the two girls left in the final received exactly the same number of phone votes. Either Kimberley or Denise were the top female but not a dead heat and it seems totally unacceptable that Betfair cannot obtain the voting information from the BBC.

If the BBC cannot for whatever reason provide the appropriate information then all bets should be voided. I for one cannot understand why the BBC would not provide such information.
Report mach • December 24, 2012 5:23 PM GMT
Feltfair, The runner up spots were not decided by using the number of phone votes cast, so why should obtaining the votes for each dancer matter?
Report FELTFAIR • December 24, 2012 6:14 PM GMT
Mach, how was the winner decided then?

Settling the Top Female as a dead heat for me means both girls received exactly the same number of votes which I find inconceivable.
Report George Bailey • December 24, 2012 6:15 PM GMT
Betfair is on journotom's twitter I think and he says he will let them know outcome iirc without checking.  Of course even with the best of intentions and the certainty of the source hard to see how one bookie in isolation could settle based on it.

No doubt the BBC would wallow in their own smugness if they knew the chaos their arrogance has caused.
Report FELTFAIR • December 24, 2012 6:16 PM GMT
Also Dani Harper was eliminated based on the fact she received the least number of votes.

That is specials betting Feltfair.
Plenty of people on the main thread thought that Top female would be a D/H, given how the BBC had described the way the final would work....and bet accordingly.
Report FELTFAIR • December 24, 2012 6:26 PM GMT
Yes I understand but the BBC refuse to provide who got the most phone votes between DVO and KW but merely stated they were both runners up to Louis.
Report Cider • December 24, 2012 6:27 PM GMT
Which is the official result, a DH for second.
Report five leaves left • December 24, 2012 6:28 PM GMT

Report mach • December 24, 2012 6:30 PM GMT
there was a winner and two runner up slots in the event, 2nd and 3rd place did not exist in the event structure, votes could be released by the BBC showing that Kim got 1/2 million more votes than DVO and they would still be joint runners up.
Report five leaves left • December 24, 2012 6:31 PM GMT
Mine?
The BBC had said how the final would work.
The 4 finalists dancing twice. Then one going and the final 3 dancing once more. Then the winner announced.
Given that it was unlikely that they would announce a 2nd or 3rd

As the BBC declare the official result. They could have said no voting in the final, and declared DVO the winner. You were betting on Top Female on the event, not number of votes.
Report five leaves left • December 24, 2012 6:34 PM GMT
How the final would work was described on It Takes Two, on the BBC webiste (I believe) and many other websites.

Semi Final and The Grand Final
Semi Final

On the Saturday 15th December Semi Final, all remaining couples will dance twice. The judges will score in the usual way and the audience will vote for their favourite/s when we open the lines. Once the judges’ scores and audience votes have been combined, the two couples with the lowest combined scores will have to dance again in the dance off where the judges will choose the couple they wish to save from elimination.

The Grand Final

The Grand Final of Strictly Come Dancing 2012 will be on Saturday 22nd December. The remaining couples will all dance again but this time the judges' scores will be for reference only. The eliminations and the ultimate winner of Strictly Come Dancing 2012 will be decided purely by the public vote.

Phone lines will open after all couples have danced for the first time. Lines will then be frozen at a time announced on the programme. The couple with the fewest votes at this point will be eliminated at the start of the Results show (on that same day).

In the very unlikely event of two couples being tied at the bottom of the phone vote, Head Judge Len Goodman will have the casting vote so that one couple will still be eliminated. The phone lines will then be reopened but all the votes already cast for the remaining couples will still count and will be carried over. The remaining couples will dance once more for your votes in the Results show before the lines are closed and the winner announced.

One could argue, quite rightly imv, even if figures emerged, that the official result is a joint runner-up therefore a DH for Top Female.
Report FELTFAIR • December 24, 2012 6:39 PM GMT
Mach, understand what your saying but for betting purposes it is fraudulent in my opinion for Betfair to settle the market as a dead heat. All bets on this market after DH was eliminated should be voided. For me the BBC to announce two runners up is bad enough but for Betfair to call it a dead heat is wrong.
Report George Bailey • December 24, 2012 6:39 PM GMT
Feltfair basically they told us up front there would be joint runners up and they would only announce the winner. We know they don't issue the actual scores.

I was too slow/stupid to take advantage.

after Dani was eliminated if kim or DVO had won we would have had a top female, so why void?

Just as if you backed someone to medal in an Olympic boxing competition, you'd be paid out on the 2 losing semi finalists as a dead heat.

Feltfair, the one Achilles heal of specials betting is that the unexpected does occasionally occur. Denise and Kim were joint 2nd (PV irrelevant), therefore DH.
Report George Bailey • December 24, 2012 9:20 PM GMT
Not even unexpected as clearly laid out before the event. The unexpected (kind of) was the bookies scrambling around like headless chickens even though they were told in advance this was going to happen.

If they were organised they'd be dangerous.

Dear Mr Danzaa,

Thank you for your recent contact.

I can confirm that we are still awaiting official confirmation from the BBC as to the 2nd and 3rd placings on Strictly Come Dancing. As soon as we receive the confirmation then all bets will be settled.

Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind Regards,
Kelly

My Reply:
The BBC won't ever give confirmation, they never release exact figures except for Sports Personality of the Year. The BBC have it down as joint runners up, so you can choose between dead hear or pay out on both like I've read some bookies have. You won't get confirmation either way - please come to a decision and return my money.

What exactly have bet365 voided, mallow, as a gesture of goodwill? It's not a gesture of goodwill at all if they've refunded your stake. They should be paying out, at least as a dead-heat on TF (on Denise & Kimberley) and straight forecasts (Louis 1st, Denise 2nd; Louis 1st, Kimberley 2nd).

goodwill if youve backed them both at odds on, taking the p1ss if odds against

Boyles have changed and now re-settled, but have received a few quid less than their dead heat rules suggest (full odds to half the stake)
I've been paid full odds, but no stake returned. Very odd.
Report DickyM • December 26, 2012 11:44 PM GMT
Just asked them to check, and has been resettled again, as dead heat, properly this time Laugh Only a tenner or so difference in my case, but may be more significant for others if they've made the same mistake for all.
Anyway fair play to them for changing, hope all Kimberley winners already paid are not affected

I should have explained that in my case voided was better since I had backed both Kimbers and DVO at odds on.
365 would have settled as DH for anyone backing at odds-on I presume. They seem to me to be one of the fairer bookies in my dealings with them in the recent past.

30th December 2012

By Ed Gleave

STRICTLY Come Dancing winner Louis Smith has slammed ex-girlfriend Billie Whyatt and other babes for cashing in on his fame.

Since the Olympics gymnast, 23, was voted show champ last weekend, a string of girls has sold stories about him.

Louis said: “It’s people looking for a quick buck. It just makes them look bad.

“When you’re single you want to have some fun, there’s nothing wrong with that. If people want to talk, let them talk.”

Ex-lover Billie, 21, spilled secrets about their relationship and challenged his claims that she had broken his heart.

But Louis said: “Ultimately, whatever comes out comes out. When I was with my girlfriend I didn’t cheat, so there’s nothing to tell there.

“I guess people selling stories on me is just part of being on a TV show.”

He also hit out at Playboy twins Carla and Melissa Howe.

The pair, both 22, spoke to a newspaper after spending a night with Louis at London’s K West Hotel.

They claimed he was not interested in bedding either of them and instead showed them clips of himself on Strictly.

Louis said: “I think they wanted something else and they didn’t get it so they just made up what they could.”

The silver medallist was made an MBE in the New Year Honours.

And he has become a big hit with gay fans after wearing a string of revealing outfits on Strictly.

Speaking at a Samsung Smart TV event, he said: “I get a lot of comments from gay men on Twitter. I don’t mind – but the boys do say rude things.

“I like to think I’ve made my sexuality clear – I’m interested in girls. And I do get marriage proposals.”

Louis romped to victory on the BBC1 show alongside pro dance partner Flavia Cacace.

Meanwhile, we can reveal Denise Van Outen took second place in her own right.

On last weekend’s show she was named “joint runner-up” with Kimberley Walsh but Denise was actually 4% ahead of the Girls Aloud star in the vote
