Looks that way. Channel 4 trying to find out

Bit disappointed with the price to be honest! Hoping it comes in abit more - gold medal ceremony at closing ceremony

Hardly surprising.  Four gold medals in Para isn't a patch on TdF or two golds at Olympics.

You just wanted to see lamott`s backside in Tesco`s window, of course you`re disappointed.

Attention has turned to Murray. the paras day in the sun is over

Disagree George. Weir will be on all the front pages tomorrow.

He has a unique story being in a wheelchair - won more golds than any other Olympian this year (bar Storey who has no chance).

I make him a 12/1 shot

Similar chance to Storey. None whatsoever

I said on the opening thread george- do not underestimate these Paralympics.

Weir is in a unique position - being obviosuly disabled, but comes across as normal guy on the street. And has won 4 (yes four) gold medals.

Get real meaty. It's been a fine tip, but it's time to sober up

Great tip but he'll be 100/1 in a week or so.

Haha!!

For the record I think the top 3 will be:
(1) Farah
(2) Wiggins
(3) Murray/Weir

Be 100/1 today if Murray won

Don't worry lamott I managed to lay most of it off between 26-30s. I will be honest though I thought the odds may have been lower.

When I said "20s" I meant between 20-29.

Not sure why you are getting so stressed about this lamoot. You weren't the one who layed him at 999/1 were you?

20 backed at 1000 laid off at, let`s say 30, leaves 640 green on the whole field. Not bad trading.

Indeed Tim.

He's not going to win - to be honest I think Peacock and Simmonds are more natural SPOTY candidates, but this remains an excellent trade.

I spent quite a bit of time and money getting some big priced Olympians onside - turns out I was looking at the wrong event.

I'd have said Peacock should be the one steaming into 30s. And Ellie for that matter, she did of course. Weir has only niche appeal compared to those two, and neither of them would stand a chance

All it would need is a big campaign by disability charities and surely someone like Weir would have a tremendous chance of making the frame at least...?

Still think Mo has it in the bag, with big support also guaranteed for Wiggo - but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a Paralympian on the podium.  Murray winning tonight of course could change that.

What about Sarah Storey - 4 golds for her... could make the list.

Not impossible a Paralympian could break the Top 3, but having two of them on the shortlist would kill both their chances imo.

I think the time is ripe for a campaign on behalf of one of the papalympians. It`s too `right on` for the BBC to allow the opportunity to pass. Having backed Weir at bigger prices,I`m keeping  him well onside. Just in case.

tanni thompson did well one year, top 3 i think

In such a stellar sporting year as this, Tim, I don't think the timing is right. Yes, overt political correctness is the Beeb's middle name but Weir doesn't come across as very votable imho - also, his exploits would have passed many by with Paras tucked away on C4 - I only saw the 800m & that was purely out of SPOTY interest to see if he won a 3rd gold at the time.

Virtually nobody saw sunday if other messageboards are anything to go by. Just to remind everyone who the 'real' stars are, the victory parade and Tour of Britain are on today Wink

Everyone is going to have a stellar VT on the night, you struggle to make Weir stand out even in pimp

Against a backdrop of failure iirc. And she's very nice, cuddly and voteable

I don`t think even the BBC could get Weir over the line. However, a concerted campaign could certainly drive his price down to mid-teens, maybe more. I`ve laid off  enough from him to not be too worried, but have decided to hold what green I have, out of greed, mainly!
By:
Meat Loaf
When: 10 Sep 12 16:43
I'm actually a bit concerned I might have layed most of it off too early! Still got 4k on Weir but layed the rest off at prices 26-30.

Can see him going to about 10/1 Blush

If I HAD to choose which price Weir would hit first, 10, or 1000, I fear I would have to answer `1000`. He has already served us both well, so no need for concern, but, in reality, this is probably as good as it`s going to get.
By:

When: 10 Sep 12 17:46
Yep true - lets not be greedy! But still think Weir is a biggish price.

Farah a big green for me now - so hoping for Mo!

Cast off your post-euphoric delusions. This is exactly the sort of stuff that makes spoty a trader's dream. New paradigm as soon as anyone wins anything

(in ref to Weir of course, not mo)
By:

I am being a bit greedy, reluctant to lose a still largish green, and then, possibly, just possibly, having to watch him hit much lower prices. I`d rather enjoy the hope of the ride, even if it eventually leads to 1000ville. Sometimes  heart over head can work.
