News section on WST appears to not be working at present, but it looks like we have a new (guessing probably still provisional) calendar (Calendar, change the dropdown to 2025/26).

Action kicks off 22nd June with Wuhan Open Qs, followed by approx a month of CL(R) - which, if recent seasons are anything to go by, is the equivalent of another month off, for better purposes (no BFLV, and even if there was, the draw is a player).

First actual tournament played to a finish is the Shanghai Masters, starting 28th July.

Most interesting change (of which they are few and far between), is that the usual pre-Xmas Qs (German/Welsh) are now post-Xmas Qs.

The 2025/26 calendar has been there for a few weeks Lat – In fact it has already added a few more tournaments since first published.

How was the World Champs for you? I find that snooker on BF is getting harder all the time – especially now that we have increased pic delays (combined with somebody seemingly courtsiding at all the big tournaments).

I made money but less than from the last few years. Of course, it could just be down to variance (I did feel that a lot of situations seemed to not go my way).

Onwards and upwards!

Hey mate.

OK about the calendar - I'd not seen that (was expecting an announcement).

WC wasn't great in all honesty - but then it seldom is for me.  Long-format, especially one-table, doesn't really suit me, and, combined with a baaaaaaad run on the WTA (which I have been playing with, mostly hands off, since the start of the year again - though every time I have a decent bet I get it wrong; sit and watch = miss a winner, get involved = certain loser CryLaugh  I gave up at the start of April last year, so have persisted longer this time), my confidence took a bit of a knock, so I didn't do much - particularly the latter stages.  I don't see much future in snooker punting either.  There just isn't enough opinionated money there most of the time, and if there is, you'd better hope your opinion is better than theirs, because you probably won't be able to shift it, if it's not!  I've stopped betting on other sports before it's got this bad before now.

Speedier scoreboards/pics would certainly improve the status quo (not just snooker), but I don't think either are coming.  I don't think it matters enough to most people, and other parties probably have too much of a vested interest in things staying as they are (short-term view, because there won't be much of a long-term to view, if it carries on the way it's going)....

Bummer to hear that you are going through a bad run – I’ve been there and feel your pain!

You are of course right about the lack of opinionated money – I haven’t looked at the actual figures but the amounts I got matched on the Worlds must be down hugely. It’s not a surprise really with the aforementioned slow pics. BFLV seems worse than ever, ITV is about a fortnight behind and TNT being quite a bit worse than the Eurosport that it replaced.

To make things worse, I also have a health condition which is making it more difficult for me to focus for long periods which doesn’t help.

It will be a massive shame to lose snooker as a betting medium for me – I have been doing it for about 20 years.

Anyway mate, hang in there – the turn-around may be just around the corner!

Thanks, mate - and sorry to hear of your health woes.  Anything that can be done to improve matters?

I know you'll come back at me with the IPL cricket figures, but I do think the impact of affordability checks and deposit limits is a not-insignificant factor, too.  Individually, these things might not make much difference, but collectively, it becomes exponential - the thing I refer to as the death spiral.

Nothing can be done to improve things unfortunately.  I was diagnosed with Parkinsons just over four years ago and as you will probably already know, it is a progressive condition. My progression has so far been slow so I have that to be thankful for.

It’s impossible to gauge just how much of an impact affordability checks are having, but on a small sport like snooker it is definitely not helping!

Bucket pockets, lack of kicks, more tournaments in China/Saudi, poor quality tournaments in general are all other reasons for snooker’s diminishing appeal, at least from a punting/trading point of view.

Anyway, I’m glad to at least have a break from the snooker for now – we’ll see how things go next season but I’m not holding my breath for any improvement!

Morning Gin.  I'm really sorry to hear that, mate.  Hopefully things continue to move along at a slow pace with it.

Yeah, it's definitely not what it was.  I can't remember the last time I saw Lumpy taking an out-of-line view on a match.... (or anyone else, for that matter) That doesn't help!  Laugh

I'll be back for the Wuhan Qs, but I guess you'll be a while longer.  All the best for now, mate.

Thanks Lat.

If only we could tempt Lumpy out of retirement with his market distorting bets!Grin

It’s very unlikely that I will be involved in the qualifiers – I just don’t have the patience with the miniscule amounts matched!

Have a good Summer.

Thanks, mate.  You, too!  Cool

The Saudi Arabia Masters has been added since I last looked (8-16 August).

Also noticed that the Xi'an Grand prix is due to finish on a Monday - seems strange?

Pretty sure Saudi was already listed when I looked, but we have gained British Open Qs on the back of the Wuhan Qs, so we now have snooker from this Sunday (22nd) through to the following Saturday (28th).
