Poor start from Selby so far...
By:
Rather more like it Mark...nice century clearance.
By:
Higgins very fortunate with that last break. Must have a mess of half a dozen positional shots.

And we have a new favourite

A little bit strange in that Selby was a lot more fluent in winning his frame than Higgins was in winning three. I haven't had a bet, but I would still side with Selby. If Higgins maintains the lead, I think there will still be a doubt about him getting over the line, particularly against someone who usually beats him.

By:
Selby on his c-game apart from the one frame where he was a-game.
Needs to change it up soon or he's behind the 8-ball soon in this match. |
By:
After backing him, that's one of the worst sessions I've seen Selby play, aside from 1 frame of course!
He's been missing so many pots it's fairly unreal for his level. |
By:
must have heard me, another century - very odd play overall
By:
So now played 5 awful frames and 3 excellent ones - no middle ground it seems for his play.
By:
hope the world championship isn't a bucket tonfest boring as feck imo
By:
Has the crumble already started? Bad mistakes from Higgins and Selby whitewashes him in the two pressure frames. Higgins the better player earlier, but he also had the run of the balls. Could easily have been 4-4. Plenty on tonight's opening frame.

selby wins this, wins the crucible and should be fav as well imo
By:
Played so poor for about 4 frames in a row, but turned into different player after that.
By:
vile 9 ball bags
By:
another century tedious snooker
By:
The excitements too much or eveyones gone to bed early to get ready for the Reanne v Antoni match in the qualifiers tomorrow.

4 on the bounce from JB
By:
unreal luck the last few frames
By:
especially the last one. he ended up getting in off a butchered safety that nearly knocked a red in and then went safe
By:
selby's fallen off a cliff. can't see it going to a decider
By:
Yep - looked done and now it's a real struggle - as you say JB had some run
By:
Bit back
By:
maybe not
By:
shot
By:
selby misses the red but doesn't get cover - game over
By:
Game Over - 10-8 Higgins
1-5 - 8-5 - 8-10 |
By:
selby was rotten from 8-5 ahead. the bad luck didn't help but even so you could almost see him melt

Bizarre final, bizarre Selby show - he is a very odd player right now, though not sure it is a good sign for the WC how he can just break apart like that.
Odd thing is he slammed in the centuries without bother at other times - centuries are often pointless ironically ![]() |

That's twice in recent weeks I have been on the wrong side of Higgins. It was bad enough against Guodong, but last night was crazy. At 8-5 down he was a million. For several years he has been the one falling apart at the business end, and then we get a complete role reversal against Selby who in recent times just beats him.

yep, their h2h record fooled me in this one too - just goes to show the same two players can create a different outcome sometimes.
