From memory, he had the choice of two reds, one of which offered more difficult access to the baulk colours than the one he ultimately played. It was a trade-off.
This afternoon's "interesting" match is JB v He (who shall, henceforth, be known as Gokwan) for me. They have met before, around this time last year over a BO7 trip, where JB emerged a 4-1 victor. Things have changed quite a bit for both since then, however. On the numbers, they are far more evenly matched than they were back then. On a couple of my metrics, I actually have Gokwan as fav. On the flipside, JB is still winning more frames than he should given his scoring, and Gokwan is winning fewer than he should given his scoring. If Gokwan can put frames to bed, I think there's a reasonable chance he prevails. Elsewhere, think the price gap between Judd and Robbo is slightly too large, though Judd will undoubtedly be seeking revenge for last time. And I think you can make a very strong case for Lei being overpriced be Zhang, who's having nothing like the season he had last time around. |
