After a flurry of near misses Liam Davies finally earns his spurs with a 5-3 win over Antoni Kowalski in the European under-21 final. Delighted for the lad after the agony of losing out in a winona to Duane Jones in the Q tour play offs last week. Still only 17 and a proper talent this guy, should be a good addition to the tour.

Bai Yulu will be joining him after beating mink nuthcharut in the womens world final yesterday. With her formidable scoring power, can definitely see her improving on those before him. Unlucky for Ng On Yee missing out again as Mink gets the second card as No.1 in the rankings.

Been hugely impressed watching Robbie McGuigan this week, won 4 deciders and now plays Craig Steadman for his tour card. Never doubted the potting, but the temperament and tactical awareness have been a revelation. Love to see him go and do it now, Pistol wasn't bullsh*tting all those years ago when he said this kid was a proper talent!

Also see Lei Peifan has won his card back in the Asian championships. Remember him missing match ball or very near it against Hoss in a world qualifier winona. Surely can do better this time around.

Excellent about McGuigan.  Hopefully he beats Steadman - got a much greater chance of going places in the game than Steadman has!

Has Lei grown, do you know, mate?  I remember the first few matches he played on the tour and he was in an ill-fitting school shirt.  He was tiny!  As we've discussed with the ladies, I do think being short is a massive physical limitation in snooker.

Robbie did it, another winona - that's 5 winning deciders to get his card. Selby eat your heart out!! Took on a couple of 2/10s too many for my liking, but was by far the better player and the pure bottle he showed was incredible really. Sorry for steadman but he had his chances and am totally with you mate, new blood is badly needed and on that evidence, mcguigan is a player for sure. Having Allen behind him has been a huge benefit I'd say, a few rough edges here and there but all in all looks good to go from what I've seen.

Didn't actually see the Lei match mate, only saw the news clip so have to wait to find out. Agree it's definitely an issue for the short ar$es Happy

Nice one, mate!  I think that just leaves Florian Nuessle as the only one of the four I was impressed by at the COVID Crucible Qs who hasn't made the main tour so far.  Does he look like ever doing anything now?

Nuessle keeps hitting the crossbar mate, beaten in the Q tour semis couple of weeks back, beaten 4-3 by McGuigan in a very high quality semi this week. Very good player, just seems to keep falling short when in sight of the finishing line. Bit like Jamie Clarke a few years ago, kept getting beaten in European and world amateur finals before finally falling over the line in a tour play-off. Suspect same will happen with Nuessle at some stage, has the ability anyway for sure.

Thanks, mate.  Fingers crossed for him.
