Looks wide open. Ronnie and Judd both got tough opening matches. Can't see either in the final anyway. so looking for value elsewhere.

My fancies
L Brecel 18/1
K Wilson 28/1

Thought Anda to beat Murphy was first round bet of the week myself.
Hoping Jack beats Luca.

Lisowski 1.5 points EW

Special bet.

Completely agree about Zhang, NTC.  On this season's form there is absolutely no case at all for Shon being fav.

Luca v Jack is a horrible one to call.  Luca been underperforming in largely low-grade affairs all season, and Jack having an awful last few weeks.  Definitely not a match for a pre-off play, IMHO.

Happy NY and punting all!

Am broadly in agreement with the above. Would love if Shon was a bit shorter just on reputation alone but Zhang is entitled to be contesting favouritism imo so i think he's well backable in this one. The other is nasty as lats suggests. I'm curious how they'll return after playing on those glorified pool tables in Macau, I'm more inclined to favour Luca but likely not to extent I'd be considering any significant plunge tbh.

Interesting!  Still working with Ebdon, too Crazy  Wonder if what we saw in Nov and Dec was as a result of Walker starting to get him to do different things and it (initially, at least, time will tell) having an adverse affect on what he had been doing?

Massive contraction for Jack's price given SPs, but hard to argue with it given how bad Luca's been.

LOL at that plant and the follow-up pot on the green.  That right there tells you how much value Jack is getting from having Ebbo in his corner.  Absolutely none.

Yeah, very interesting indeed mate. It's hard to knock him for actually going and looking to improve things but 2 coaches like that does seem a bit odd, like as you say they'd both likely be crossing over each other in their dealings with Jack. Piece suggests Ebdon is solely mental and Walker purely technical but I'd be curious to know how that works out in practice. Interesting one for sure. Some of the customary bizarre shot choices again from him today which against someone not playing like a drain would inevitably cost him.

Sean O'Sullivan, Marco Fu, Ryan Thomerson, Rebecca Kenna, Andres Petrov, Ross Muir, Danny Wells.

List of all the players Shon has beaten in ranking events this season. Not including obviously the league thing which he won or Champion of Champions in which he beat Gary Wilson. No player ranked above 80 and while he will surely start to turn it around sooner rather than later, i don't get a strong vibe tonight will be the night. Zhang has masters debut syndrome to overcome but he's around a while and doesn't seem the type to be unduly phased by a big atmosphere. No getting away from that run of Murphy form - it's worse than horrendous.

Exactly, mate.  As I eluded to during the match, if Jack is still playing some of those wholly "on instinct" shots in matches, there's absolutely no point to Ebbo being in his corner.

Imagine what we'd be saying if he'd missed that plant!

1.01 Ebbo starts every session by showing a clip of him making that 12 break against ronnie in 5 minutes and saying, "forget all that fancy dan stuff mate, that's proper snooker right there"

It's good they seem to be putting match stats up on the website now, but am a bit perplexed what is meant by "pot rate." Doesn't seem to be the same as the usual pot success as Lisowski must surely have done better than 85%? I'm assuming that's the overall pot rate, ie including safety and all shots, which isn't much of a helpful stat at all to be frank.

It's just pot rate though and the usual breaks stuff, no safety stats or anything else. I'd like them very much if they did them for all events!
