Greetings gentlemen.

I find that this one usually puts sophistictated young ladies in a calm and reflective mood.

Whereas this one might see them pleasingly dancing around in their suspenders.

I see that MC Walker "treated" us to a "Time to get the boys on the baize" at the outset of the final, which naturally elecited a roaring standing ovation from the mindless and well-trained clapping sea-lions that make up the vast majority of the malodorous and sub-prime "knowledgeable Crucible audience".

I have actualy seen more intelligent life in zoos, including those wretched and scruffy Pandas in the Beijing Zoo that sit on their corpulent backsides every day, ignoring anyone who doesn't feed them. Ye Gods what a shower they are.

Getting the old trusty charity shop grey suit and waistcoat pressed and aired for the morning.

Better keep the smarter dark blue suit for a few final sessions of matches involving big players.

Don't wory though, I won't mess with the formula. It will be cliched, tired and pedictable introductions and the occasional mentions of baize.

See you all tomorrow.

Are you loving the intro he seems to have invented for Selby - repeating the line 'great to see him playing with a smile on his face...' line, like he's just invented mental health, or a solution to it.

Selby has pulled a few faces listening to it, not sure any a smile or not though...

Yes indeed Wonders . Sad to see how low the old place has sunk.

There's little doubt in my mind that many of the lunatic fringe Walker admirers in the Crucible crowd, clapping him like demented seals, represent a live and potent threat to National Security.

Wouldn't surprise me if some of their number see themselves as the natural heirs and modern equivalent to the Manson Family, with their beloved MC as their CM.

We truly do live in frightening times.

Stu - some clues....it's the shirt of a club approx 330 miles further North. Or at least it was when I dropped by their lovely ground around 20 years ago. It was an impromptu visit there after a round of golf in the same town, and they were kind enough to show this stranger around.  I have taken them to my heart ever since, although not yet an official part of their Ultras following.

Inverness? Happy

Head considerably further South and have another guess.

The shirt sponsor at the time was The Bervie Chipper, a splendid food emporium I visited regularly in days of yore after golf.
Report stu April 26, 2026 11:36 PM BST
Took a bit of working out that, as a historical kit - I should probably be as clever in some of my betting research Laugh

I must try and find and post some more of my photos from the Grand Tour of the premises. There was a lovely function room as I recall.

I very much recommend visits to these lower tier Scottish clubs, ideally not on match days. The welcome is in my experience very friendly.

Stu - I expect this one wouldn't take you long to work out. Clue : it's not little known perennial Isthmian League strugglers the Rutland Ragamuffins

Stu - This one might be the nearest UK ground to the sea????  A desperate clearance might send the ball into the North Sea?

Guessing Raith Rovers for first one - not sure seaside one though must admit...

Possibly a destination favoured by those with a taste for haddock being prepared a certain way?
Report alun2005 April 28, 2026 1:44 PM BST
Approx 340 miles by road from the Crucible Theatre.
Report stu April 29, 2026 12:04 PM BST
Arbroath maybe?
Report Knight Commander April 29, 2026 3:24 PM BST
Cullen Rovers?
Report alun2005 April 29, 2026 4:30 PM BST
Correct Stu.

Arbroath - home of the Smokie along with a beautiful golf course often with some fairways full of white bird feathers in Summer. And rather unusually a main line train that cuts through the course on the back nine. (Out of Bounds : one point penalty + distance)
