7:5 to Joe - but is Juddley even playing well enough to get past him when he (inevitably) twitches?
|
|
By:
As it stands, I don't think he is, but he does have gears to go through, as he showed yesterday.

Hopefully his brother gives him a good slap and snaps him out of it - but I'm sorted now, so would actually quite like to see Joe hold it together and make the finish line.

Jesus, Judd not made a break above 30 tonight!

Now up to 44!

8-5!!!

It's nice to see the Gentleman win another ranking tournament (and I say that as a big Judd fan).

Very well deserved, Joseph! Clinical where Hossein wasn't!

Fair play! - you'd have to put Judd down for an "assist" there - but you can only beat whoever is in front of you - so a very well deserved win. Chuffed for the guy.

Night all! - See you at 8am sharp for some Turkish delight.

Trump's gone at the game..he managed to make one of the game's biggest ever chokers look like Hendry at his imperious best(albeit Joe did play some good stuff and when he did make mistakes Trump responded in kind)

Trumps completely lost his bottle, ever since losing to Robertson in the UK where he did a massive choke, the way he spoke he expected to lose he's gone back to his choking days of 4/5 years ago..He will get it back at some point, but this is the second time in his career he's done it losing that final has given him the yips again..

The last time i watched Perry before this week was against Filthy a couple of months back and fecker could barely pot a ball. Really strange sport this! Fair fcks to him anyway, judd below par and he took advantage of it, unlike hossein yesterday. Real good pro finish too, nary a hint of a twitch in sight.

Maybe gigg but he did win 3 tournaments pretty quickly after that uk final so i don't know how big a factor that was. He was so dominant last season, or up to final 4-6 weeks anyway, i think it's mentally hard to keep that going. He's a great talent, but he's not nor ever will be ronnie, think there are some doubts lurking there.

He did at least one interview last season where he basically said he'd achieved all he wanted to in the game. It seemed a big thing to say at the time, but at that stage he was still performing, so it was easier to overlook than it's becoming now. I do wonder if he's practicing as hard. I do also wonder if he might have been saving himself for a really strong push at the Crucible this season. Time will tell, I guess.

Said that too before lats, may be no harm to see a quieter season this time and more in the tank for sheffield. But I'm still not convinced that's how it plays out, it's not by design anyway. Judds alright by me, but seems a complex sort of fellow. Like he's carrying some sort of invisible burden that drags him down from time to time. That's how it seems to me anyway.

He seems a surprisingly fragile character, often speaks with great honesty in his interviews but as a result is inevitably revealing some level of weakness to all and sundry in a very stark contrast to the likes of a Hendry or a Davis...even Higgins (Alex) for that matter..
it's not a criticism as it's refreshing and endearing in many ways especially in contrast to some early perceptions about him as a young player whilst Robertson (Neil) who initially had much of the 'caught in the headlights' projection has become a more and more irritating but confident individual for whom it's never really his fault but as a result maintains arguably more of a presence when played against... anyway enough psychoanalysis from me... |
