Stephen Hendry was never crowned king by dubious opinion but by honest and spectacular achievement,    his record stands alone.

I cant remember Hendry and Higgins ever meeting at the crucible and perhaps its 10 years too late but interesting it will be.
Neither is at the top of their game  but perhaps John is more in touch with his being the younger man so its understandable he is the favorite and I just hope its a close match that goes deep into the third session.
For me its the greatest meeting the most overrated, and I say overrated with the greatest respect to John who without doubt is in the top 4 of the modern era but at best,  is just a luke warm Hendry.
Much is made of John being the greatest all round player and while he uses safety more than Hendry ever did, he is not in the same class as a potter, breakbuilder, or bottle merchant, so for my money Hendry wins 3 out of 4.

Of course its mainly Davis and his Parrot who elevated Higgins to being the number 1,  previously they had Ronnie down for that and unless I miss my guess, it will be Robbo before the championship is through.
Schoolboy stuff it is.

With Johns game being a bit iffy it may be wise to back Hendry but at his age its always dangerous to expect any resurgence in his game to last for long.

Ask Doug Mountjoy and much more recently Peter Ebdon.

I don't know, I think Hendry may do well in this match up. And you're correct about them meeting at the Crucible, I believe this may be their first match-up.

Never forget Higgins blowing that match all those years ago against Nigel Bond. Or maybe he didn't blow it, who knows any more? Whatever, he's not fit to button up the great man's waistcoat.

Even before I lost all shreds of respect for Higgins, I still wouldn't have put him anywhere near Hendry.

Stephen Hendry is by some distance, the GOAT.
Ahead of Steve Davis who is a country mile ahead of the rest.
