Farrell's selection is obvious given all the nonsense about refs/RFU/IRB/money/man walks on moon/unicorns/911 etc.
He will have balls continually placed on the tee for him to slot over the posts as Eng go on to win 90-0 with no tryscorer the best bet of the night :) |
By:
According to Lord Baldy,Clive Woodward,England are gonna score five tries.
By:
I can see where you are coming from Vis,but totally disagree.Set up an attacking England team and they will be very very tough to beat.Yhe team is not based on 1 player, but Farrell offers nothing.Kicking down to those backs ? Good luck !
By:
Said it from day dot.How Ford and Slade get over looked over Farrell is a total joke.DC is miles better than him.In their because of his Dad.Jokers !!!
By:
Farrell being picked is compounded with the selection of Barritt outside him. Perfectly sensible if the tactic is to try not to lose it in the backs and hope the forwards get the edge but arguably negative and a recipe for disaster if the forwards don't get on top.

I wish no ill health on any sportsman, but I would love to see Farell get smashed tonight.
By:
When does Farrell off load ? he doesn't.He is the missing link.

I'm not so sure stewards. Trying to play an expansive game against a SH side particularly Australia where every player grew up doing that and have played years of Super rugby may not be a good idea. In a must win game I think England has to revert to type. Forward domination and slowly strangle the life out of the Wallabies. Force penalties keep the threes ticking over until the Wallabies go into panic rugby and it just gets worse for them from there.
If the Wallabies can get some early points and a try then I think England are in trouble. |
By:
Agree stewards I don't know the bloke personally he may be terrific company but on the field there are few players that annoy me so much. Watching him line up a kick is unbearable.
By:
A few years ago I would have totally agreed with you.But you let England loose to chuck about rugby(made that up
) and they can compete and beat anyone.Money aside it's so frustrating for me.They really aren't that far behind the SH sides. |
By:
Forward dominance when you are lining up against D. Pocock is going to be some ask.
By:
I think the influence of UK money on BF makes England a shorter price than they deserve to be so I'm happy with that.
By:
I posted on Wednesday or Thursday I expected them to shorten.95% of the Country that bets after a few beers on a Saturday night will back them.
Me and Vis are the 5% ![]() |

There's no way England are a better side than Australia. BUT. They are desperate. It's MUST win. That can go two ways. Honour and glory or crumble in a heap. Home ground advantage is always a bonus.
My biggest fear by FAR for the Wallabies is not the English team it's the French referee. I don't rate any of them and I cannot ever recall a game where they didn't punish us. If Pollock or Joubert were reffing I would be a whole lot more confident. |
By:
Would tend to agree.Ref can make any Outcome possible.Hopefully it doesn't come down to that.
By:
Australia's problem in recent years is that their pack hasn't been technically as good and southern hemisphere refs have allowed themselves to be conned by them because they aren't very good at picking up forward infringements particularly at the set piece whereas northern hemisphere refs have to make their living making such judgements on a weekly basis.
Which does relate to the past because I do rate some of the Aussie forwards and feel Cheika is moving them in an encouraging direction. England are also not nearly as strong and therefore it wouldn't surprise me in the least if the Aussies get parity or worse for us. ![]() |

By:
I have a feeling We could get a few Homer decisions tonight.I'm not a fan of Poite at the best of times. The pressure is on him as much as England.
By:
The problem with that line of reasoning is that he is one of the top refs in the world and if he has aspirations of taking one of the biggest matches late on he has to be seen to be totally fair and standing up to home fan pressure. It's not inconceivable that he could bend over backwards to be fair to the Aussies.

It must be the HUGEST and most important pool game in World Cup history. I've had about 48,000 beers since RWC 2011 and upwards of 6 million beers since 1987 so my memory may not be 100%. The second favs for the WC versus the #2 ranked team in in the world. It doesn't get much bigger. A loss for England and they are out and everyone in the world that is not English rejoices. A loss for Australia makes my week really sh1t. It's like a Final weeks before the Final.
By:
Eeternal he can't help himself. It's in his genes.
By:
And he is no hope of the Final anyway.
By:
Strangely Wales are currently ranked 2nd in world
![]() |
By:
Really? How is that?
By:
How does beating England leapfrog you over Australia? Bizarre. Australia beat the All Blacks once this year. That's about ten times more often than Wales have ever beaten them.
By:
It's how the IRB work things out. Can be quite easy to climb rankings as a NH team without even playing a SH side
By:
More confirmation of NH rugby officials being bent.
By:
I thought Ireland were RANKED 2nd in the world(I'm not saying they are)but from a ranking point of view.England about 7th(Namibia 6th)
![]() |
By:
After we beat the All Blacks we were ranked #2. Hard to believe that a victory by any teams ranked lower than #2 for example England and Wales could make you leapfrog Australia to get to #2. I give up.

Vis what would happen to the Outright prices tonight with
1)A Wallabies win 2)England victory Do you think no matter of the result AB;S price will stay the same ? Sorry to put you on the spot old chap ![]() |
By:
I think ABs price will stay the same if Aus win and shorten if Eng win.
By:
Agree
By:
Pocock MOM 9/1 looks decent. The most dominant forward of the current era. Almost certain he will have a good game if Aussies win.
By:
aussies on the bridle
By:
England to win by less than 12.5, at around 3.0, seems best bet to me. To win they are around 1.9. If they do win then it should be close. Similar thing applies if you fancy Aussies to win.
By:
That does sound good Vis.

It's 5.04am here and despite drinking beer for the last 12 hours I'm a little disappointed with my effort. Just sneaked in and filled my Jaguar coffee mug with my wife's red wine for a bit of nitrous.
