Big game tonight on Sky... who do you fancy? I think Saints will be there or thereabouts personally this year and Warrington without two of their better players of last year in Briers and Hodgson might find things tougher this year. I think Saints will get off to a winning start, what do you think?

We've had 2 games and two massive clothesline 'tackles', neither of which have been punished to any greater degree than an obstruction or hands in the ruck.

Colour of the card is debatable, but if you are allowed to smash people right in the head there's going to be some serious injuries in this sport.

ive not seen massive clothesline tackles. I seen one where he hit the shoulder with great force and his arm went up and hit him in the face, this happens. If he flew in and swung his arm straight in his face, that is a clothesline and a red card.

Second week running the forum and dare I say the comms have opposed the market.
Report RugbyMan February 13, 2014 8:54 PM GMT
He took a massive swing and I'm buggered if I can see where he hits a shoulder and slips up. A straight arm cracks Monaghan right in mouth. You can't hit a shoulder first if you are dead in front and your arm is swinging towards a player.

Soliola wants to do some damage and if he hits him lower he's ok, although still has questions to answer about whether he has made an attempt to wrap his arms. If he just smashes his man in the mouth I don't see what excuses he has?
Report bobweenit February 13, 2014 8:56 PM GMT
Yeah tackle has to be made with 2 arms the more I watch it back the worst it gets
Report bobweenit February 13, 2014 8:56 PM GMT

Report der_der_73 February 13, 2014 8:57 PM GMT
He hits top of his shoulder at pace and arm goes up, very common in league done loads of those myself :-) no drama. Penalty and on report correct call.

I'd get this young lad, Myler on for the 2nd half. Believe he's England material.
Report Injera February 13, 2014 9:01 PM GMT
It's crazy that a high tackle isn't a mandatory yellow card.

A high tackle is an offence because a serious injury could result: cheekbone, eye socket, windpipe etc.

An incorrect play the ball gets a whistle and a pen, an arm to the throat or higher should be 10 minutes in the bin, minimum.
Report MiltonF February 13, 2014 9:03 PM GMT
But Warrington are completely clueless.. no comebacks here.. the Warrington crowd should just slip off to IKEA and get a few bits and pieces

Report RugbyMan February 13, 2014 9:05 PM GMT
Are you watching the same tackle der der? Soliola isn't making a normal tackle and getting it slightly wrong, he's having a go at doing some damage by putting in a big straight arm. If it goes low thats ok, if he gets it wrong it could seriously injure someone and isn't legal which is exactly what cards are for.

RFL loves to talk about player safety every season. Not sure what exactly it is they do about it though. Blood from the mouth of a player who's just been assaulted - nothing done....

I went into Laddies at one o clock to back St Helens on the handicap. They have a little self serve machine in there and I saw Saints were 5/6 -6.5.

So writes a bet out an takes it to the counter and the manager says they are -4 on the handicap, where you getting -6.5 from ?

I says from that machine over there. He says I can only give you 5/6 -4.

So I went back to the machine, and let me tell you I could not get the notes in quick enough.
Report chipfire227 February 13, 2014 9:15 PM GMT

Report chipfire227 February 13, 2014 9:30 PM GMT
Yeah I'm dubious when a member of staff puts a price on a slip but when its a self serve machine and its automatically done I cant see them getting out of paying up.

My mate who has his bets limited at the counter went in 10 minutes later and reckons he got as much on as he wanted. You reckon we will get paid ?

Tried uploading photo of the slip but says has to be approved by Moderators first.
Report england_v_south_afri February 13, 2014 9:30 PM GMT

Report bobweenit February 13, 2014 9:33 PM GMT
Ladcrooks once took 200 notes out of my account 6 months after a bet had been settled saying the handicap price at the time was wrong. The cap was to big at the timeHappy after a bit of complaining got it back. Can't see them arguing with the bet as saints have won but wouldn't shock me
Report twonky February 13, 2014 9:34 PM GMT
I've yet to see Myler play well against a top team
Report chipfire227 February 13, 2014 9:35 PM GMT
No Vis sorry my typo.

They were 5/6 + 4 at the counter and 5/6 + 6.5 on the machine.

I only had 60 on,  but me mate who normally has his bets limited at the counter managed to get £300 on, then had a cover on Warrington to win by 6-10 at 11/2.He said if Warrington won by more than 10 he would stop gambling.

Seems strange they can limit your bets at the counter then they put a self serve machine in the shop which will let you do what you want ?
Report twonky February 13, 2014 9:35 PM GMT
See what happens when you put a halfback on the pitch.Excited
Report RugbyMan February 13, 2014 9:38 PM GMT
Makes you wonder how the machines and counter can get different prices. Surely they all run off the same system??
Report RugbyMan February 13, 2014 9:41 PM GMT
Was a bit of a drift on Warrington, so maybe the machine is just behind and hasn't caught up. Very strange use of technology if that is the case though.

OK chipfie with you on the story now.

Well that was a huge bonus as you well know getting an extra 2.5 points covering the crucial 6 point gap in the process.

When I looked online this pm Saints were +4 online with Lads but that was a couple of hours after you bet, but I know sometimes online and shop prices can be different.  Can't comment on self serv machines in shops as I have never used one of those.

You're getting paid regardless as they can't void it even if they say +4 was the line you are well on a winner Laugh

Yes Saints were being backed this morning and a couple of firms had shifted handicaps from + 6 to + 4.

I checked on here at the time and Saints were 1.98 - 4.5, and 365 were 4/5 Saints -4.5

To be fair the shop manager said if its bigger on the machine use the machine, and I said well if you giving money away I might as well have some.
