Going to stick my neck out and say that I fancy Toulon to batter Cardiff if last week's performances are anything to go by

Yes, by winning every game bar the one they didn't need to win.
Report TheVis October 19, 2013 3:35 PM BST
A rare event coming up next. Castres have named a proper team for an away match.  Almost as rare an event as them winning an away game.  At least today they may try for about 20 minutes, which will be 18 mins more than usual.
Report RugbyMan October 19, 2013 3:37 PM BST
A good time to take on Leinster with a bunch of players missing. If it goes well for 20 mins they might even try for another 20.
Report TheVis October 19, 2013 3:48 PM BST
Gopperth got away with one big time there
Report RugbyMan October 19, 2013 3:49 PM BST
I missed that, what did he do?
Report Rhino-2k8 October 19, 2013 3:52 PM BST
Ulster TRY
Report RugbyMan October 19, 2013 3:53 PM BST
Good try Ulster, Montpellier got their numbers all wrong.
Report TheVis October 19, 2013 3:54 PM BST
Just a blatant knock-on just outside his own 22 that was missed RM.
Report RugbyMan October 19, 2013 4:02 PM BST
Ulster won an extremely dubious pen and knocked it wide. Both Pienaar and Jackson have missed pens.

3-7
Report TheVis October 19, 2013 4:04 PM BST
Castres scrum looking v ropey so far
Report RugbyMan October 19, 2013 4:06 PM BST
Looks a bit foregone in Dublin. Think i'll stick with the one that is actually a contest.
Report RugbyMan October 19, 2013 4:08 PM BST
Pienaar misses another.
Report Rhino-2k8 October 19, 2013 4:09 PM BST
Ulster well on top here (Missed points galore)
Report RugbyMan October 19, 2013 4:11 PM BST
Ulster have figured out what to do, hoof it high, so it's going to be like watching SA from a few years ago for the rest of the game.
Report Rhino-2k8 October 19, 2013 4:11 PM BST
On MONT -3.5 not confident at all.
Report RugbyMan October 19, 2013 4:19 PM BST
Nobody watching the Castres game? Sounds like Castres have managed a try.
Report TheVis October 19, 2013 4:22 PM BST
I missed it was watching the last C4 race from Ascot which was a cracker.  Looks like they will still be well in this come HT though still hard to imagine them winning it from what I have seen.
Report RugbyMan October 19, 2013 4:24 PM BST
Another pretty dull game here, not doing too well for entertainment so far.

3-7 HT
Report RugbyMan October 19, 2013 4:25 PM BST
Well, as Cardiff proved, if you are within a score at the end that's all you need.
Report TheVis October 19, 2013 4:51 PM BST
lot of love for the French here despite no more points

Big win for Ulster, 8-22 with little time left.
Report TheVis October 19, 2013 5:32 PM BST
oh well, French led some down the road of wasted funds in that first period of the second half.  A false dawn.

Speaking of which, time to have a go at Munster. Glos are such a ridiculous team they could well give us some fun this evening if they can get amongst things up front, or should I say "front up" Laugh Regardless, I feel strangely happier laying Munster than Leinster.
Report TheVis October 19, 2013 5:32 PM BST
That is an excellent win for Ulster.  Puts a real dent in Mont P hopes for sure.

Yes, it does, which is all the stranger for the fact that they actually beat Perpignan last week.
Report RugbyMan October 19, 2013 5:57 PM BST
Pretty rubbish day for me today, after a good result last night. Biggest bet of the day is on Racing Metro though, struggling to see how Llanelli handle this giant French pack.

taking a chance on munster -21.5
Report RugbyMan October 19, 2013 6:07 PM BST
Priestland misses 2 kicks at goal. Then Racing fail to score a try due to the bounce of the ball. Not 100% sure Sexton needed to cross kick, but if it bounced up for Plante it was 0-5.
Report RugbyMan October 19, 2013 6:10 PM BST
Absolute shambles of a scrum, could probably have penalised each team twice in that, but Metro score. Could have been Metro wheeling it, or Scarlets failing to keep it straight, but Paterson just says play on.

0-7
Report RugbyMan October 19, 2013 6:14 PM BST
Good pace to this game, finally, after some pretty average views this weekend.

0-10

Metro a bit flattered by the score.

Glos are gone here.

Time for a bit of the other game I reckon.
Report RugbyMan October 19, 2013 6:17 PM BST
I'm out for profit already. Got my money back from all that I chucked away on the Toulon game, which was plenty.

Report RugbyMan October 19, 2013 6:20 PM BST
That lump has been seen before on a few other games this weekend. Wanted a similar amount on Montpellier at 1.27 and I was too busy faffing around to lay any.
Report TheVis October 19, 2013 6:21 PM BST
might have some fun in this Racing game if Scarlets do something.  Lots of people have just laid Racing.

Report TheVis October 19, 2013 6:24 PM BST
you must have very deep pockets RM - I am a pauper bettor in comparison

good luck anyway -  it was a lovely value lay with Scarlets having a pen which they then scored and still it didn't go
Report JOCI Club October 19, 2013 6:28 PM BST

Report curious-cat October 19, 2013 6:31 PM BST
It would be better if Sky had 2 screens and dispensed with 3. Tries of the Day.
Report RugbyMan October 19, 2013 6:32 PM BST
I had a hefty wedge on Metro to start, got out at 1.36 and 1.44 because 12 minutes in that's just too good to turn down, so had a bit to play with, but I still laid a lot more than I should really be laying. Out again now, although I could do with levelling off completely and sitting back with a cuppa.

I'm all for low odds in tight games early in the first half!
Report RugbyMan October 19, 2013 6:34 PM BST
Bit of a shocker from Sexton there.
Report curious-cat October 19, 2013 6:34 PM BST
It was me as well RM though obviously not as much as you.

And I backed back at 4 and 4.2.

I'm too nervous of the Scarlets backs. Grin

Wow, that is an exceptionally harsh yellow.

No surprise that Quinnell thinks it's a card, but as much as it suits me I'm not at all convinced.

What a turnaround. One very iffy yellow for Racing, one very fair one (could have been red) and the Scarlets capitalise, although they never looked like doing much damage up front.

20-10 HT

Report RugbyMan October 19, 2013 7:24 PM BST
Yes, I'm inclined to agree, although he helped them with their first try by just shrugging his shoulders and giving up. Was pretty much my reaction as well though to be fair.
Report TheVis October 19, 2013 7:24 PM BST
French look good from here
Report RugbyMan October 19, 2013 7:28 PM BST
How daft was that. One player did brilliantly to push Scarlets off the ruck, the next one bombs in from the side.

Although if the ref pinged the first one, which it sounded like, he's a pillock.
Report althespanner October 19, 2013 7:28 PM BST
poor decision again      too many for my liking now
Report RugbyMan October 19, 2013 7:32 PM BST
Quinnel is right that that could have been a pen, IF a Scarlets player is actually blocked. If nobody makes an effort towards the ball they can't be blocking anyone. Not sure they were all listening at training.
Report RugbyMan October 19, 2013 7:32 PM BST
Jeez that was stupid.

Report RugbyMan October 19, 2013 7:38 PM BST
Yep, Quinnell is a likeable lad, but he can't commentate on Scarlets games, it gets silly.

Amazing maul, but Sexton fluffs his lines again.
Report TheVis October 19, 2013 7:39 PM BST
v poor from Sexton.  Racing really should be winning this

Report RugbyMan October 19, 2013 7:43 PM BST
Well, I'm going to be very happy with a draw here, but a shame it's in a game where I've build up a huge green on both teams. Seems like a waste.

Bill MaClaren's love for the game outshone his close links with Scottish rugby though there were times when he got a little more excited when Scotland were playing.

English comms have an advantage in the biased/unbiased stakes as they so rarely communicate any passion.

To be fair he tries his best to be calm, but somehow he sounds worse than Butler while actually being less biased. Just the way he tells 'em.
Report curious-cat October 19, 2013 8:15 PM BST

Report curious-cat October 19, 2013 8:24 PM BST
personally I like the passion as long as they try to interpret what they see fairly.

Brian Moore improved and I found it amusing he couldn't watch a scrum without complaining about the ball not being put in straight.

Surely BM AND EB are the BBC's top team.
