If Italy could pass ahead of their runners they would be winning this.

One last push Italy!!

This is horrific, I haven't a bean on it but Italy are being totally ripped off by clancy.

This has been the best game to trade for 1.0s since New Zealand v Ireland in the 2nd test. Awesome stuff.

Not slow about giving England a pen though, eh?

I wish I could have got some money on Italy losing that line-out.

Great half from Italy.  Shame Clancy was so white eyed

Good lord, Venditti nearly came up with some magic there.

Mike Brown bails them out at the end. Different class.

Fair played Italy, but we were awful throughout.

Not that big a win needed by Wales next week then to nick this.  Good finish in prospect.

I think that having a full back like Brown on the wing doesn't make you look exciting, but it does win games. Expecting to see England line up with Foden, Brown and Goode in the back-three at some point.

Wales have 2 more tries so they have to win by 7pts only I think.

Should Wales win by more than 14 points the establishment will insist on alphabetical order !!

OK cheers RM I heard BBC say it was on tries but they of course never gave the totals.  So what does that make Wales really?  3/1 shot?

We could have the bizarre sight of the team in front playing fast and loose at the end as if they are losing.

You can get 13/8 Wales and the draw for next week.  That looks fantastic value.

Italy V Ireland is the game I'm interested to see both Match odds and Handicap next week.

Great to see that everyone has something massive to play for next week (bar Scotland).

Italy beat Ireland and they avoid the wooden spoon and finish 4th at worst. France need to win to avoid the spoon, but might get it anyway if Italy win their game. Ireland of course could get caught out by both if they don't play well in Rome.

Think that is the best thing that could have happened to England ahead of next week. Get a stuttering, lumbering, almost undeserved win, which should help to temper the media somewhat, while also bringing about a renewed team focus.

hardly the best thing.. if they had won by even a below par 20 points the title would be in the bag

Apart from the winning aspect to the match , England supporters cant be over the moon tonight .  Played with little flair , lost a lot of turnovers , surely this side did not beat the Kiwis .

England have always sought to destroy the game, all about a single kicker of the ball.

Lucky to get the points yesterday........from Italia.......Vaffanculo,merda.

Well we've seen how bad they can be,it goes without saying that a repeat of that performance and Wales will bury them. I wouldn't back England with stolen money if Fllod starts next week.

The early missed touch finders from Flood didn't help. They were on top very early and I think they would have got tries from one of the line outs and they would have won on the bridle.

A big positive is that they won when to me they seemed dead and buried

I doubt the points difference makes any difference now, the last thing the England team will want is to lose the match by a couple of points and win the competition.

It's all about the Grand Slam and winning the game or all that's gone before will mean nothing.

Agreed. Will seem a bit hollow to lose the game but win the comp.

Robshaw will need to spend some time this week thinking about what to do at the end.  Perhaps the most intriguing is what do you do if you are 3 down late and get kickable pen?
By:
RugbyMan
When: 11 Mar 13 15:22
Kick for the corner. Not much to be gained by missing a grand-slam by a single point and if you bodge either Wales would still have a chance to go the length for a try to win the championship.

Would have been more interesting maybe if Wales only needed 6pts and England had a kickable pen at the end while 6pts down. Would have to take it I suppose, but would be nice to think that the try would be attempted, just doesn't make enough sense in what can be won and lost.

Strong claim for Wales being the best team in this tournament IF they hadn't played like tarts in the first 40 minutes against Ireland. Otherwise they have looked more dangerous than England and equally tough up front. You just can't have a 40 minute brain explosion and expect to win games though. Would have been an even better way to end the comp if they had beaten Ireland.

I'd kick the penalty all day long... Plain
