just the kind of insightful post this forum thrives on.
is da luca andy robinson's love child? this can be the only explanation for his consistent inclusion. |

To be fair to De Luca he's been playing much better the last 2 games and seems to have cut-out the stupid pens and turnovers in the tackle. He and Scott were immense against Toulose. Scotland plus 15 here and a bit on the match odds at 8 and draw at 48.
By:
Scots are really only missing 2-3 players here from their 6 nations team, a no8, Barclay is lightweight for breenging runs off the base, Chunk and the centre combo is untried at this level but is working well for Edinburgh.

the forecast heavy rain can only be in the scot's favour. think we could see quite a promising performance from scotland today (not often you get scotland and promising in the same sentence!) and i agree that +15 looks a fair start for an interest

Australia have picked an experimental side which makes it more interesting.

It's p!ssing rain over there by all accounts and I prefer the look of this Scotland pack, so backing them with the start is a no brainer for me. The majority of the Aus 8 were in action over the weekend so it's a short turnaround and little preparation time for them too.
By:
Actually the Scots are usually full of promise but just fall short in the last 10 minutes. Wind will be strong as well as the rain. Not necessarily suited to the Scots recent game plan of fast tempo and offloads but should keep the points down.

Why is this on a Tuesday? Are the Scots no longer considered weekend box office?

"Why is this on a Tuesday? Are the Scots no longer considered weekend box office?"
They're ranked lower than Tonga, Samoa and Italy. It's a shame, but it is the reality. |

Weather is terrible
By:
that's exactly why it is on a tuesday road hog & why they only get one test while wales get 3.
this will be tough but i don't think it will be as tough as the one they will play in samoa. weather looks atrocious, fire on the unders. |
By:
Maybe they should be touring the likes of Georgia and other outposts to get their confidence back up.

Even the irascible GingCat has lost his dander and is rumoured to have switched his attentions to the round ball game

That is an utterly filthy night in Australia and Scotland do love a good old grind through the phases. Handling will be tough, so that should level up Scotland's usual massive number of knock-ons.

just as well the weather is bad as the winger selections are utterly uninspiring as an attacking force on a firm surface.

Why no Quade Cooper for the Wallabies ?
I thought he was back from injury now. |

I'd imagine Cooper is being given a bit more time, se. He's only been back for two games, hasn't he? It's the only logical explanation I can come up with as Barnes has been shyte for the Tahs.
By:
Yeah you're probably right Dunc.Pity really as his game would have hated these conditions so could have helped the Scots out.
By:
fek me these are some of the worst conditions i've seen for an international in a long time
By:
Keep going on about AUS being under cooked . They have been playing regular rugby and the SCOTS haven't been playing for a few weeks .
Expect AUS fitness to kick in , especially in these conditions |
By:
Barnes has been very poor for the Tahs , but one thing he will do is just kick everything and not pass
Suited to tonight's conditions |
By:
The super15 games at the weekend show just how little prep the aussies have had for this game though. Nobody is going to want to train on Sunday, straight after a game, which leaves monday and the game day. Could be some clueless combinations.
By:
not so sure about that in hell, the aussies been playing umpteen weeks on the trot, played at the w/end. would say there match sharpness would be bttr but in these conditions ball handling skills etc wont count for much of an adv. Scots have a real chance here..... for a 0/0 anyways
By:
The Scots struggle to hold the ball in dry conditions , cant see this rain being very helpful to them
By:
Palmer and Slipper are an extremely dubious international pairing and there should be plenty of scrums. I'm being sucked into a bet on Scotland again after swearing to never do so again after the six-nations!

If it gets to 40pts i will have turned my TV off by then.

Basically a Reds backline and no8
AUS by at least 10 |
By:
Scotland at it already. Going backwards at a rate and players still taking it into contact with no support instead of putting a kick in. Thick as ****.
By:
doesnt seem to be any real wind adv....? basically straight down, maybe a slight cross pitch wind?
By:
turning off already, just call it off
By:
will this game actually get to the end?
By:
It's only rain. If they've started in this they should be able to finish. Wont be pretty though!
By:
Scots have a huge advantage with the wind in this half
