low points line, raining hard?
Report TheVis April 8, 2012 3:47 PM BST
rain doesn't look set to last - though of course things will be wet now.

Leaving this one to in-play though overall I think the French are the better team.

Fofana anytime at 3/1 under the PP offer is my try scorer interest.
Report TheVis April 8, 2012 3:48 PM BST
sorry 4/1 make that
Report gingcat1 April 8, 2012 4:08 PM BST
Joubert 13/2, lapandry 11-1 and Kayser 12-1 anytime for me.

Sarries/Clermont 8-1

Under 37.5 10/11

Sarries try before 38 5/6

Sarries 10/11 as a starting position.
Report TheVis April 8, 2012 4:30 PM BST
that sarries/clermont price is surprising ging - too late for me to get on that so good luck
Report gingcat1 April 8, 2012 4:34 PM BST
Yeah, lads were out of line in that 1, heres hoping.
Report gingcat1 April 8, 2012 4:35 PM BST

Feckin Norn iron commentator.  Surely Sky can find someone with a less offensive accent/voice!

Clermont firing so far. Only team I can imagine beating Leinster in this comp, but they are in serious debt to their fans so far in the Heineken. Maybe this is the year.
Report TheVis April 8, 2012 4:43 PM BST
was that really high?
Report RugbyMan April 8, 2012 4:44 PM BST
Not the first time Parra has rolled around on the ground a lot after a hit. If even Charlie Hodgson is clothes-lining people this game will be savage.

Rhys Gill has never been able to scrummage properly.
Report big_dunc April 8, 2012 4:47 PM BST
Long way back for Sarries now.
Report RugbyMan April 8, 2012 4:48 PM BST
Gill, Brits and Stevens certainly isn't a scrummaging trio to be scared by.

Shows up the fact that Sarries dont quite have the finances of some teams. Props cost a lot and I dont think they can afford the very best.
Report big_dunc April 8, 2012 4:52 PM BST
Gill has always been an imposter. Nieto might not offer much around the park and probably wouldn't last the 80, but I'm amazed they didn't start him today given how strong Clermont are at the set piece.
Report RugbyMan April 8, 2012 4:55 PM BST
Nieto is probably the most consistently illegal scrummager around. Would no doubt do a better job here though.
Report Rhino-2k8 April 8, 2012 4:56 PM BST
Here's the rain
Report RugbyMan April 8, 2012 4:58 PM BST
Not really sure whats wrong with that from Kayser. First in, not shifted off the ball, hand on it throughout. Harsh.
Report big_dunc April 8, 2012 4:59 PM BST
What's this nonsense that the Sarries fans do with their hands before a kick? Seen them at it before, I think German soccer fans do a similar thing.
Report GRANTCKING April 8, 2012 5:09 PM BST
sarries are garbage here, glad i didnt back them
Report RugbyMan April 8, 2012 5:12 PM BST
No great surprises here. Greasy surface, more rain falling, two very strong defences, only 3-9.

Quite possible that the deciding factor will be the scrum and very little else.
Report big_dunc April 8, 2012 5:13 PM BST
It's not too surprising, they've looked out of their depth whenever they've come up against the top European sides before and Clermont are a power house who have felt the pain before. Sarries don't have the experience of Leicester and Northampton in this comp yet.
Report RugbyMan April 8, 2012 5:33 PM BST
Parra down in a heap again after getting brushed. Ridiculous kick from him as well. All those runners and he gives Sarries easy ball.

Report RugbyMan April 8, 2012 5:36 PM BST
A step too far again for Sarries I think.

Big step up to take on Clermont. Extraordinary amount of talent in that French team. Got a bit of Clermont -7.5 at a nice price, so got to hope they dont do a French thing and shut down now.
Report RugbyMan April 8, 2012 5:37 PM BST
I wouldn't say Byrne is back to his best CC, but he's certainly playing better than he did in his last year at the Ospreys.

Not kicking pens to touch probably helps!

there we go then the two best teams in europe in one semi

I make Clermont favs for that, but we will prob get scratch on the market.
Report TheMailmann April 8, 2012 5:41 PM BST
saracens toothless in attack, really being showed up here as a very average side. Eng teams in general haven't been at the races at all
Report RugbyMan April 8, 2012 5:42 PM BST
Where is it going to be Vis, or do Clermont get the choice now?

Can't be their main stadium can it? But still essentially a home game.

Definitely the final as far as it matters. Be funny if the winner lost in the final, but I cant see it.
Report TheMailmann April 8, 2012 5:44 PM BST
need a try from somewhere but haven't even threatened so far
Report big_dunc April 8, 2012 5:44 PM BST
Almostly certainly in St Etienne.
Report itcanbedone April 8, 2012 5:45 PM BST

Report TheMailmann April 8, 2012 5:45 PM BST
Leinster will have these lads for breakfast, they are different class at the moment.
Report big_dunc April 8, 2012 5:46 PM BST
Clermont haven't lost at home for 40 matches I think.
Report big_dunc April 8, 2012 5:47 PM BST
I heard that off someone in the Leinster camp last night, icbd. Couldn't understand why they don't use St Etienne.

Report RugbyMan April 8, 2012 5:48 PM BST
Leinster are without doubt an excellent side, but they were up against trees yesterday. 3 players in that Cardiff pack that are bad at Pro12 level and 2 ancients in the back row.

Clermont just dont give an inch and some of their performances at home in recent years have been mesmeric. Hell of a clash.
Report abtastic April 8, 2012 5:48 PM BST
Poor, poor pwerformance from Sarries. At home and being bossed like they area colts team against the senior side.

All lookign shell shcoked and this was over at half time. I feel like I haven't even had a run for my money. Utter garbage. Changes should have been made methinks.
Report RugbyMan April 8, 2012 5:51 PM BST
Change who though? Sarries cant afford back-up like these French teams can. Saull, Burger and Brown all injured in the back-row and that is showing up badly here. Fraser and Melck are out of their depth.
Report itcanbedone April 8, 2012 5:53 PM BST
Yeah, dunno why they will play in Bordeaux rather than St Etienne.  Stadiums are the same size and Bordeaux is about twice as far from Clermont.
Report abtastic April 8, 2012 5:53 PM BST
Fair comment. The Freench side are superior all over the place so I accept your ppint gracefully.
Report TheVis April 8, 2012 5:54 PM BST

I tried to pull a fast one and have flights booked to St Etienne for the weekend. Not sure I'll bother now, Bordeaux is a kip Cry
Report big_dunc April 8, 2012 5:58 PM BST
I agree, Vis. Going to have to take some cover on Leinster at bad prices though as I have a great looking book without them.
Report itcanbedone April 8, 2012 5:59 PM BST
An away SF vs Clermont will certainly focus the mind, Vis.
Report TheVis April 8, 2012 6:00 PM BST

Report big_dunc April 8, 2012 6:00 PM BST

I've turned around a poor weekend from yesterday morning. Have had Clermont onside throughout and topped up on the 7s this week along with the cap today. And with the possibility of a home semi, I took the route of 20s Ulster outright this week as opposed to the match odds v Munster.

ASM 11/8
Leinster 15/8
Ulster 4/1
Edinburgh 25/1
Report RugbyMan April 8, 2012 6:16 PM BST
This is what Leinster are going to have to deal with. No easy tries against Clermont. Discipline means everything in that game I expect.
Report RugbyMan April 8, 2012 6:20 PM BST
I think Ballaman mentioned this in the Munster game with Best - Bardy rips off Borthwicks head gear and throws it in his face. Rolland watches and does nothing.

Have the actual dates been set for the Semis? I know it's the weekend of 28/29 April, but do we know which game is on which day yet?
Report big_dunc April 8, 2012 6:57 PM BST
Ulster match is Saturday, Clermont play on Sunday.
Report Cha-Ching April 8, 2012 7:03 PM BST
Cheers. As a neutral, does anyone know how easy it might be to get a ticket? And how much they'd go for? I'm in the area that weekend and have Clermont for a few quid!
Report TheVis April 8, 2012 7:24 PM BST
Very tough for either game I would have thought, especially the one in France.
