Rolland spends so much time explaining the laws. He gave a scrum to England for France blocking tacklers, which is a pen, then gives France a dubious pen as soon as they are in kicking range.
Suits me for France to win this, but I would France to win it, not be given it.

Croft certainly wasn't Rougerie's man. One of the first things you're taught in defence is to take the outside man. Harinordoquy has been a passenger for too long and was a disgrace.

Well, talk about giving everything for the cause. Dowson just had his face smashed all over the place.
England deserve this. Very impressive, although some of the French play has been really poor.

Most entertaining England game for a while. Maybe the best game of this 6 nations. And I certainly think they deserve it as well.
Wales got to win the grand slam now, this French team just not good enough to win games away from home.

aye fair point BD, france played safe before thou' with the long penalty instaed of banging it into the corner so got what they deserved in the end by playing so/too conservative at times.

Yep, very good line up of fixtures next weekend. Interesting that England v Ireland is last up, so if Wales blow it they might have to sweat it out for an extra 80 minutes.
England will finish second if they win next week. For all the hoo hah before the tournament, I think they have played extremely well for an inexperienced team.

Agree that they should have gone for the jugular earlier. They looked very strong going forward when they didn't drop the ball and built more than a couple of phases.

Not sure why everyone is on Rolland's back. He had a good game today. He gave a final warning and followed up on it. Nice to see him doing what he says for once.

Jaysus Rougerie's had two shockers in a row now after his performance against England. Didn't realise that was a two on two for Croft's try. Himself and Harry pathetic.

The pundits are very good at ignoring previous warnings, but then so is Rolland generally. Looked very harsh on Sharples, but if the team is on a warning then so be it.
I've seen far worse from Rolland, but he always spends so much time telling everyone about his decisions rather than playing the game. Couple of moments of nonsense from him, but he may well have been the best ref of the weekend. Can not ever remember saying that before.

All 3 pundits watch that France break at the end and say offside, but I can't see it personally. Being ahead of the ruck is no problem if you dont get involved, otherwise it would be a pen at every kick.
The player who makes the tackle gets himself onside and Davies thinks three are offside somehow, even though there are not 3 players involved!
Doesn't help refs when pundits make things up to contradict them.

that's true, then you have Brian Moore who professes to know the laws as a ref making out the ref should be wearing blue, I found it funny him trying to defend a hooker popping up, he was wrong and tried to justify it by saying he was going forward, but that's the trick - pop when going forward to force the opposition up and penalty from a ref that doesn't know what's happening
penalty count was 11 - 5

France's lack of composure at setting up DG attempts against Scotland and now today is a amajor hindrance to their progress.
After 6 minutes they attempted a DG from 25-30 metres. It was laughable, both in the decision to do it and the attempt itself.
A fundamental part of the game, the DG decides many crucial matches including WC Finals!
With better set up and execution the post match dissection changes and Mr Lancaster's stock falls considerably.
Funny old game..

No doubt England deserved to win. But seriously how brutal were France, the half backs were inept, there was no effort chasing and closing down. Only increased the temp at the very end and too late.
England would have cruised it with a capable 10.
And from what I saw Harinordoquay was comfortably the best player on the park. Mind you I was in a pub so might have missed the odd nuance.

Yep, cracking player and a massive prospect at his age.
You're a strange deluded man if you think England could have survived a poor performance from a fly-half today. It's amazing how many teams have poor performances against England, but play so well against other teams. Odd that.

You've never played, never refereed, never coached, not involved in any capacity in any rugby club and you have never been to a 6 Nations game.
Bascially the only affinity you have for the game is through your tv set. And frankly it shows.
If you had any sort of decent rugby upbringing or immersion, your constant childish whinging about refrees would have been kicked out of you long ago!

Croft and Morgan had big games today but to take the next step forward England need to find a genuine No. 7. Unfortunately that would mean dropping the skipper.

Not true ICBD, although facts have never been an issue for you.
Most people on here discuss rugby and betting and things pertaining to it. You, and one or two other oddballs, spend their time harrassing others.

It most certainly is true. You admitted on here that you only played a handful of games at U-15 level. This does not constitute playing experience.

Moment of the match for me was the Farrell tackle at the death. That sealed the game for Eng.
As for capable 10s - well give me the current English kid over the Welsh kid any day right now.

For all my apparent faults you appear to be obsessed with me icbd. One thing I certainly haven't done, and you can quote me on this as you generally do, is to become obsessed with the life of another man.
And how on earth can you say you haven't made up anything when you have never met me? Bizarre.

this smells suspiciously like the ridiculous "how many winners have you ridden" argument
I'm afraid RM that some people are never happy when England win, usually England are "lucky" or the other teams played poorly.

France pretty clueless today I especially liked the pass to Poitrenaud when he was still kneeeling on the floor, well played England though if only they could get shot of flat track bully Ashton they would have a decent team.

Come on icbd, I've got to go play 5 a-side in a little bit.
Should I start a website about my life to save you having to come on here? It would be easier for all of us I think.

My interest in you is solely so I can understand why you make the comments that you do on here.
You are unforgivingly critical about Oficials and players decision making to name but two examples. You pontificate from a great height and with great certainty but with no affinity whatsoever for the pressures of those actually taking part in the arena. This lack of affinity come from the fact you have had as much involvement in rugby as most of here have had in synchronised swimming.
Enjoy your 5 a side.

ICBD's muchly diminished Cheltenham war chest will no doubt be put to good use next week following his lifetime involvement in the national hunt arena as jockey, trainer and steward.

Oh, I will be having the odd bet alright, but I won't be pontficating from on high about jockeys, trainer or stewarts! Well aware of the limits of my perception unlike some

regardless of anyones "qualifications" everyone can have an opinion.
you really need to cop yourself on icbd.

I'd never back France. Ever. And not because they are the team I most want to see our lads beat. At any one time they can give a gallic shrug and mentally sneak off for a crafty smoke, glass of wet and fumble under a pretty girls dress. Never ever to be trusted.

Of course RM is entitled to an opinion. Everyone is. That's not my point.
The point is that his opinion reflects no affinity whatsoever for the realities of the pressures of playing and officiating. It is relentlessly and unfairly critical and has morphed from opinion to dogma at this stage. I don't like to see our game denigrated as such.
A few seasons of J3 in Connemara might recalibrate his expectation level.
