I'm sure we all remember 7 am post and midday post, delivered like clockwork by a well dressed postman. Now, it comes any old time. I received a letter today at 4pm, the postman's shirt was hanging out and he looked like a tramp.
THERE HAVE BEEN NO GOOD PRIVATISATIONS. EVERY SINGLE ONE HAS MADE THINGS WORSE.
All we ever get is junk mail. Just about anything that matters is done online these days, unless it needs an actual signature. Hence the demise of Royal Mail, this would have happened whether privatised or not.

Who's talking about parcels, you seem to have missed the reference to letters and junk mail Donny. Not so clever yourself
You must know that they can't make money from mail, even the majority of Xmas greetings go by email now. They started prioritising parcels a couple of years back in a desperate effort to regain profitability but with so many other delivery companies out there they continue to struggle. The management are quite useless of course.

Try harder, lol, I don't even need to try, the mere sight of my name sends you and your groovy gang mates into a flap.
Another big problem post office have is folk bought stamps way back when for 20 odd pence and still use them to send birthday and Xmas cards.
You can still buy first class stamps for less than a squid, when post office charge nearly 2.
There are some rather beautiful Winnie the Pooh stamps out this week. This will raise a few squids, and not be used, but, as letters drop out of circulation there are fewer and fewer stamp collectors.
It does seem increasingly that parcels is going to be their way forward, with birthdays and Christmas supplementing the advertising revenue on postal side.

About 400 postmen and women are leaving Royal Mail per week, according to the Communication Workers Union (CWU), who claims this number has gone up since the company introduced a new delivery system earlier this year.
The CWU says the firm had been losing about 330 postal staff a week from a workforce of 83,000 before it rolled out DM26, which reorganised routes to improve delivery performance.
The union claims the new system is not working in hundreds of offices, and BBC Your Voice has heard from staff warning of a "nightmare" Christmas ahead as the number of parcels increases.
Royal Mail says the reforms are part of its plan to deliver a more "efficient and financially sustainable" service.
Over the last year we've been in touch with more than 30 postal staff in all four nations of the UK, as they have switched over to DM26.
It allows for second class post to only be delivered every other weekday, and is supposed to guarantee first class mail and parcels are delivered every day, by putting workers into groups of three and changing the walking pattern of rounds.
But posties speaking to us anonymously say parcels are still being prioritised, letters left behind, and time wasted in sorting and dividing mail into first and second class.
"I didn't take any first class mail out on my last shift because I was on a road that's been behind for weeks," a worker in the West Midlands told me. "But I'm sure a manager would have ticked a box to say all first class mail went out."
A Royal Mail spokesperson said the company always worked to ensure all mail - both letters and parcels - were delivered on time.

More likely makes our eyes roll Donny and at least we have some mates
btw, Since 2023 you cannot use old style stamps bought back in the day "for 20 odd pence", you have to exchange them for newer ones with bar codes .

I think I know why so many TDS bros are not getting any replies to their first class Ocean funding requests. Are you remembering to rip off the barcode? It invalidates the postage if you leave it attached.
