The phrase “jaw-jaw is better than war-war is most famously associated with Winston Churchill.
He used it in a speech to the House of Commons on 26 May 1954, during a debate about the Geneva Conference. |

Churchill actually said, ‘Meeting jaw to jaw is better than war.’
It was Harold Macmillan who said 'jaw-jaw is better than war-war' |

badjoe are you saying there were no negotiations to end WW2?
Because if something was signed it would appear they came to an agreement. |

The UK will expel 27 Israeli diplomats and their families if Israel proceeds with closing the British Consulate in Jerusalem

We should close the Israeli embassy in London and permanently bar all past, present and future members of the IDF.
Let the good people of Israel know what we think of their murderous ways. |

but not the iranian one that caused this disaster and supports terror wherever it can. without iranian cash this isnt happening
or the chinese one that is liquidating its moslem population via forced sterilisation. now that is genocide there are plenty of murderous countries but only one you care about |

Hi BF, the problem i see is zionism and what it entails for Palestinians, the even want to 'sell' them (Ben Gvir).
Bibi 'supported' them, suitcases of cash going in through Syria, it and his political 'career'deserves the utmost scrutiny. The West Bank isn't Hamas though obv sympathetic in parts The settlers are modern day 'colonialists', a supremacist rule and until there is some form of 'equality' and fairness nothing will be sorted. |

Just a quick question to you, do you think a Palestinian would consider their land as 'occupied'?

hello pa
im not a cheerleader for israel. just crtical of the hypocrisy. it is surrounded by people who want to end it, and after 1000s of rockets and tunnels and a brutal slaughter its blown up deluxe, which i deplore also but the haters said nothing about its constant assault from iran, the nastiest state in the world, probably and nothing will be 'sorted' as long as it exists. 'free palestine' is bollox. its a brtual mini-iran. those daftee wimmin waving placards would be married age 12 in gaza. only in israel would they have any rights at all your own mary lou was outraged when ireland played israel at football but said nothing when the irish cricket team played afghanistan. where she would be soon dead. hypocrisy again there will be no solution. thers plenty of arabs in israel and they are glad of it. its islam thats the problem. there, here and everywhere. until someone has the cobblers to say so nothing will happen for the good. either through fear or dishonesty on a positive note, the red cap has re-opened. i had a pint there and it was good |

of course they would, as do you with the north. and im mostly on your side, with qualifications
but you and we arent that fanatical (well mostly) and have reached an accommmodation that pleases nobody but is better than what was going on before. just think back to how bad things were and you are shocked at how bad it was. unimaginable now but the middle east is an intractable problem. the 2 states solution has been rejected by the pallys several times. they really dont like israel being there at all. and thats a tricky argument, as it is an artificial state created for noble reasons the arab states invaded 3 times in an attempt to eradicate israel (f all to do with palestine, btw) but have now realised they cant just destroy it. hence some sort of rapproachment with the uae, for example i dont know the answer, but it aint this |

I know you aren't a cheerleader, you well know they have done wrong and i am listening to you on your view of islamic culture and even to others in that it needs to be 'watched' particulary from inside the 'West'.
Most people just want to get through life and my belief is that applies to the majority except the nutjobs. Mary lou could have said to the bowler hat brigade walk through a few of you at 3.30am and it would be little skin off most noses, sometimes the phrase 'a better man' is applicable. As much as i think their core belief is right they would be a disaster governing the country. Afair the Red Cap was very small, down a side street on a corner(?) great to see a pub reopening though tbh i tend to stay out of them these days, good memories working for a crowd just off the Holloway road, they made me and almost killed me at the same time. |

The 2 state was rejected yes, but it i'm sure won't be now,it is the zionist agenda not to let that happen hence E1. The world knows this and sanctioning.
I think it will have to be done and could even work if policed well. |

likewise. although mainly me own fault. we were different people then, and you wouldnt like london now, imo. its great if you have money. if not its very hard
i dont go in many pubs either, only my mate mitolos, which are very good |
|
By:
if it is done, and i dont think it will happen, although by god i hope it does, if only to end this vileness, palestine will be another failed state like all the rest
theres a big leathery pachyderm in the room everyone is frightened to call out |

Bang on, we were invincible and fe ckless, i loved it then though, the small town Catholic yoke thrown off and not a care in the world.I loved London then even if it was the dreaded Newham where i mostly lived.
Not much reason to stay indoors then,4 tv channels, listening to tapes, nah, out if you had a few bob. i do go there once a year and while a lot stayed the same it has gone v high rise. |
