We hear a lot about ‘Christian values’ — and the lack thereof — in the back-and-forth about immigration.

Five commonly recognised Christian values are:

Love — love God and your neighbour.
Compassion — care for those who are suffering or in need.
Forgiveness — forgive others rather than seeking revenge.
Humility — put others before yourself.
Justice — stand up for what is right and defend the vulnerable.

So, which Christian Values do you personally uphold and cherish?

For someone who likes to repeatedly post the same post asking about peoples opinions you seem to be pretty adverse to hearing peoples opinions by blocking them.

All of them. Now let's have your retarded argument that it's not compatible with a secure border. I need completion on this.

Lots of people in the UK claim to be Christians but very few, myself included, actually go to church.

But I do uphold many many Christian values.

Love — love God and your neighbour.

I don't love God, I don't believe in any but I do love my neighbours.

Compassion — care for those who are suffering or in need.

Yep.

Forgiveness — forgive others rather than seeking revenge.

Yep.

Humility — put others before yourself.

Yep.

Justice — stand up for what is right and defend the vulnerable.

1000%

How about your Christian values?

I don't see how that's compatible with all the joosperging that's been going on lately on this forum. Hamas killed loads of people on October 7th.
Report paulybad • September 27, 2026 5:36 PM BST
Christian values were abandoned around the same time we all realised the priests were covering up for very dodgy clergy and the nuns were busy secreting prem babies in septic tanks, I now take my Catholicism with a pinch of salt and embarrassment.

The 'priests' who did dodgy things weren't Priests. marxism 1.01 is 'we can't overthrow The West with good ideas, we have to infiltrate, undermine and destroy from within'; which, over the last 100-plus years, is exactly what they've done to education, media, government, the arts, sport and, yes, the Catholic Church. And what better way to discredit it than to have sleeper 'priests' carry out such acts and have it all blamed on The Church!

Conservatives don't lack Christian values, but they do have enough common sense to realise things have to be done within reason. Why do you think it is SNC that lefties understand the concept of not having enough space in their own homes to house illegals but don't appear to understand the same concept in respect of the country?

The same goes for spending money on Christian valued causes, lefties appear to believe there is an unlimited money tree for everyone with their hand out but they don't give their own money away in an unlimited fashion for Christian valued causes.

You must see how it looks. It looks like you lefties are trying to gaslight everyone all the time.

Seeking revenge would suggest a serious happening Norb

Why don't you put up what you are ready to forgive

The Bible was written in different times. Mankind keeps changing the goalposts. Mankind frequently moves their thoughts on this, and God did understand we could not live up to his lofty expectations. For instance I firmly believe God did not see Betfair coming. So like many, my belief is.... Love God, family and neighbour to a point, if he is a nasty piece of work GOD understands your point... not sure if he would AGREE or DISAGREE., however gets MY point. Compassion I do to a fair degree however also believe in the law and rules. Forgiveness I am ok with, however have seeked revenge and helped innocent parties get revenge. I will stick up for myself, however I am not above or below society... JUST EQUAL  The justice is pointed back to my answer on forgiveness. There are many people I would not forgive even if it meant damnation. I do not expect people to follow my ideals. So there are my answers and life is to short for someone to pick a piece out and get their rocks off on it and try and lure a debate if they agree or disagree with me. One of my favourite sayings I believe in God, if the reply is prove he exists prove he does not. When I have debated this many years ago and got into time wasting debates I would ask them to provide evidence he does... well Professor said... well do you believe everything he says, prove it yourself, me, I am trying to disprove his existence it is you that has the problem, not me. I am happy for you that you do not believe...NEXT.

Can you show me the evidence Escapee?

It's excedingly complicated, it requires a high degree of cognative function to start from the basic axioms one can prove with a triangle, and then step by step all the way up to quantum phyics.

If you haven't got sufficient cognative function, you'll never "see the proof" you seek.

Given the complexity of scientific answers, It's understandable many find sitting on the fence a good place to be.

Indeed science itself often starts from sitting on the fence and exploring/testing possibility.

Report Ronaldmcdonald • September 28, 2026 4:29 PM BST
It's a question that has baffled scientists and theologians from the beginning of time but they didn't have what the TDS bro have - the insight of reddit. That's what separates ordinary mortals from having the high degree of cognitive ability required to understand this exceedingly complicated matter.

Report Foinavon • September 28, 2026 6:03 PM BST
According to Carl Sagan, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. I would make do with quite ordinary evidence such as him/her popping round for a chat and a cup of tea and turning a bottle of Volvic into Chateauneuf du Pape. Newcastle brown would do at a pinch if that was too difficult.

although outward displays of religious faith have largely disappeared the notion of christian values is worth contemplating and asking what they meant in practice.its a fact that christian nations made the modern world and western liberal christianity is the apex of it.

faith hope and charity and respect for human life were keystone ideas in progressive christian thinking. an example is slavery, the abolition of which was driven by christian proselytising

a driver of progress was the printing of the bible in the vernacular that led to an massive increase in literacy and then sprung the enlightenment and onto scientific discovery, freedom of ideas and the industrial revolution

this was notably successful in northern europe, and to this day the most successful, liberal affluent and respected countries worldwide are those, particularly the nordic states, who adopted the pragmatic version of the christian faith

they pay homage to these roots that shaped them by including a dirty great cross in all their flags. and you thought it was for decoration

we now have the world at our door because other faiths that dominate elsewhere and dont evolve and cant produce any sort of liberal society. some other faiths are prescriptive and fatalistic and retard progress

obv. this is condensed and simplistic but broadly accurate

it is also worth questioning the wisdom of importing very large numbers of people who do not share christian values and emanate from lands where christians are being persecuted out of existence. eg, the christian population of the middle east and north africa has shrunk from about 20% to less than 3 and those left suffer daily torment. jews have been eradicated entirely
