Yes sad news.
Report Escapee August 26, 2026 2:14 PM BST
She was intelligent, kind and generous. She was everything the magaloons hate.

A champion of the poor, a champion of education, She gave away over 100 million books to children. She was everything the magaloons hate.
Report DixieDean60 August 26, 2026 3:09 PM BST
Escapee, you just can't help yourself can you - what a cretin you are and disrespectful with it.

FYI Dolly had the good sense to be apolitical in public. As such she would have appealed to all sides of the political divide.

Now get back in your box and stop being such a divisive creep.
Report Escapee August 26, 2026 3:19 PM BST
She was a beacon of decency and integrity, She was everything magaloons dispise.

Probably wise advice Mr S.

Anybody who comes on to a tribute thread to make comments like that clown are not right in the head Sad
Report lapsy pa August 26, 2026 4:45 PM BST
Her film 'Here I am' is currently on the BBC iplayer, probably will watch it as knew very little about her really. Seems as said above she was a very good person.
Report Ronaldmcdonald August 26, 2026 4:49 PM BST
She was a good person. Do you think Escapee should be condemned for politicising her passing?
Report lapsy pa August 26, 2026 4:54 PM BST
Not my position to condemn anyone. FWIW,i thought it was the most glowing tribute to her along with the OP.
Report MALAY August 26, 2026 6:02 PM BST
Not massively into music but I like to listen to country and western and she was certainly an icon
Report timbuctooth August 26, 2026 8:19 PM BST
Modelled her look on the one local prostitute, later coming out with a great self-deprecatory line; 'It costs an awful lot to look this cheap!'
Report DixieDean60 August 26, 2026 8:49 PM BST
lapsy - So you think bringing partisan politics in to a tribute thread about a non political person is acceptable ?

Maybe you do deserve to join the others in the Festering Five after all Sad
Report saddo August 26, 2026 9:29 PM BST
Escapee is way beyond help, describing his ignorant input as 'the most glowing tribute' says plenty.
Report lapsy pa August 26, 2026 9:37 PM BST
The hypocrisy^ zero re Dolly and using the thread to snipe.
Report DixieDean60 August 26, 2026 9:54 PM BST
Right back at you lapsy,  Escapees first post containstwo lines, both with political sniping.
Report lapsy pa August 26, 2026 10:03 PM BST
'she was intelligent, kind and generous,a champion of the poor,a champion of education, she gave away 100 million books to children'

A nice thing to say about anyone.

At least he said the above on the thread, you can defend saddos rubbish and tripe on this thread if you want Dixie
Report Shrewd_dude August 26, 2026 10:17 PM BST
Escapee brought his usual political partisanship in to a RIP thread. It's not a glowing tribute at all when its used to espouse his usual hateful ramblings at doing his conkers on Kamala.
Report DixieDean60 August 26, 2026 10:29 PM BST
Lapsy, it completely dilutes the "glowing tribute" if you tack on a political jibe, surely you can see that.

There was absolutely no need for it, he should have saved it for a different thread.
Report saddo August 26, 2026 10:53 PM BST
He just pretends not to see it, says plenty. I commented on the Dolly thread
on horse racing yesterday, without feeling the need to make it political.

Dolly was a top balladeer of the 20th century, hard to name many others in her league.

Not many poets, not many anybody at all, turn their gift into a the gift of 100 million books to children.

The oppotunities those kids (now people) got from her kindness, from her simply just providing them with the means to an education because she could.
She created a wealth for millions that will flow and grow through generations.

P.S.

Post yer mans tweets on mueller's passing ITT and then cry some more fake 'politicking' outrage.

Report DixieDean60 August 27, 2026 12:42 PM BST
A balladeer is a singer/composer of ballads Grin

To refresh Escapee's memory , i give you - James Taylor, Carole King, Neil Sedaka, Paul Simon ,Johnny Mathis, Lionel Richie, David Gates, Chicago, America.

And that's just for starters Cool

Report jollyswagman August 28, 2026 9:57 PM BST
it is actually about 325 million books sent to children (including in the uk and ireland), her illiterate father said that the imagination library was what made him most proud.

since 2022 she funded tuition fees for all employees at dollywood.

she anonymously funded many high school bands across the south of the usa.

she donated to a covid vaccine programme.

there were some wildfires in a place not far from where she grew up and she donated to every family that was affected.

she wrote over 3000 songs.

she once took part in a dolly parton look-alike contest, no one recognised her and she didnt win.

as well as being highly intelligent she was incredibly quick witted and self-deprecating.

she was an incredible human being.

How do you know everyone on this forum had the vaccine ?

I know a number of people local to me who didn't have it and lo and behold they are still going.

Thousands died despite being vaccinated according the the ONS.  Not sure what that does for your maths equation.

They don't ask for due dilligence on magaloon fantasies like "the stolen election" or anything "crypto clacton" or anything about their jimmy saville cult leader.

See Escapee, facts still don't matter do they, just like during Covid when you lot bleated for more authoritarian boot in the face.

When you use expired and adjusted lies straight from the bought and paid for Lancet, you need to be called out.

For the benefit of the people like. Wink

hey clouded leopard,

I'm really greatful to you for calling out the "bought and paid for" Lancet figures.

Please share your research and tell us the real figures?

Along with your due dilligence of course.

Thanks in advance, you're a real hero just like Dolly.

Report clouded leopard September 5, 2026 3:47 PM BST
my bad escapee - the Lancet never withdrew their 'guesstimate' - that's absolutely standard behaviour that rag however - I'm not gonna blame Ai even though that's where I got that

Other estimates of course differ massively (2.5m from Stanford) - because that period was just that - utter guesswork which nobody can prove - pure hyperbole all over the gaff and for all we know they saved f all lives..

and you can't link that period to almost everything else that's happened since - well, I pity you

To add ...  Lancet has been caught in the firing line time and time again over decades though ... many different cases
