Her film 'Here I am' is currently on the BBC iplayer, probably will watch it as knew very little about her really. Seems as said above she was a very good person.

Escapee brought his usual political partisanship in to a RIP thread. It's not a glowing tribute at all when its used to espouse his usual hateful ramblings at doing his conkers on Kamala.

Lapsy, it completely dilutes the "glowing tribute" if you tack on a political jibe, surely you can see that.

There was absolutely no need for it, he should have saved it for a different thread.

Dolly was a top balladeer of the 20th century, hard to name many others in her league.

Not many poets, not many anybody at all, turn their gift into a the gift of 100 million books to children.

The oppotunities those kids (now people) got from her kindness, from her simply just providing them with the means to an education because she could.
She created a wealth for millions that will flow and grow through generations.
