Occupants of high-powered car involved in M9 tragedy were wearing balaclavas or masks
![]() Thought it might be Kneecap fans ? The Irish lads should be on in the Morning to fill us in Outrage on Twitter as is |

the psychology is extraordinary, plenty of people seem to think it's their place to defend the deceased criminals.

I'm reading that the act of driving down the motorway the wrong way has just become a bit of a trend over there.

another one yesterday
Garda car rammed by stolen vehicle in south Dublin An investigation is under way after a Garda patrol car was rammed by a stolen vehicle in the early hours of this morning in Co Dublin. The incident happened when gardaí on patrol responded to reports of dangerous driving on the M50 near Leopardstown at around 2am. Gardaí came across the stolen car at Glencairn Drive, The Gallops and signalled for the vehicle to stop. |

Yes as Cider says its really worrying , trends like firelighting and the above can catch hold (pardon the allusion ) extremely quickly these days . Prevention will be key .

Wish the poor women and child who were on their way to the airport a swift recovery.

Anyone wearing a mask or balaclava should be shot on sight, that would help.

My Cousin says similar thing happened previously Bloke was killed by another car that was going the wrong way on motorway , They do it coz they know the police wont continue chasing them
|

Regardless of the whole appalling behaviour and tragic consequences, What were they doing out a 3 am ? They were children they should be in their home sleeping looking forward to a game of sport.
Society is gone, social media has plenty to do with its downwards trajectory. |

I learned quite a lot reading about this story. Apparently lots of Irish cops are being prosecuted for chasing criminals. They don't have enough prison places. Kids always getting let off. One of the rumours are that this gang had only been caught recently, and one of them had a dedicated tiktok channel for broadcasting their exploits of driving stolen cars dangerously.
|
|
By:
Good riddance to the five of them. Just a pity about their victims.
|
|
By:
Absolutely terrible to see the suitcases outside the wreck. Must also have been awful for the emergency responders. One of the perps apparently found on the other side of the motorway.
What's left of the vehicles seem to still be pretty much where they collided, so virtually no dissipation of energy, almost like hitting a wall. |
|
By:
Cider you have read the same as myself regarding joyriding and videos on social media, it’s all very sad if children believe that behaviour is something to be proud of and an achievement.
Anyway I will leave it at there is plenty grief in this horrible situation. |
|
By:
Yet more evidence that social media are poisoning young minds and changing behavior. At last a few authorities are taking them to court but fines wont help much. Persistent offenders need closing down.

Car theft/crime has been blight of our roads for years.
Lots of it was driven by show off behaviour in town, which was combated by road calming speed bumps etc etc to discourage behaviour. Some modification was also added to car locking systems, (my first car could be unlocked with a lolly pop stick) Obviously live streaming has enabled the idiots to take their reckless behaviour away from town and still attract gormless spectators who egg them on to ever more dangerous behaviour. Sadly giving them publicity only encourages them. As for being shut down, these 5 have been, hopefully that actually discourages others. Tragic that other lives are lost by idiotic behaviour of attention seekers. |

Sly news apparently left the critical part of the statement, that the cop car was going the correct way, out. Literally shameless, limit to their attempt to gaslight.

Blakey Burnham asks people to avoid speculation
Why is Burnham and Philp talking about speculation? What exact speculation is occuring? |
|
By:
released his statement on x. doubtful he even prepared or posted it himself. how low the political leadership of the country has sunk, part time pm.
the establishment will be busy trying to spin the blame on plod. and not fellow tik tok addicts. |
|
By:
Do you expect a Prime Minister to instantly have the answers to problems --- car theft & joy riding --- the police have been dealing with for decades?
If the police need new powers isn't that something the Chief Constables should be lobbying the Home Office about? Hilarious you think the PM is working part-time just because he has a communications team. Maybe he should be like Trump --- UP ALL NIGHT RANTING IN CAPITALS |
|
By:
Our prime minister should instantly have the answer to all problems all of the time.

I do think "X" is not the place to be releasing such statements but I also think
he is in a dammed if he does and dammed if he doesn't position |

By:
He could do a piece to camera for PA if he wanted to. What happened yesterday was a sop. I'd say the same whatever party the pm represented, as events like this should be above the punch and judy stuff. And yes, his handlers would have been fully aware this is probably a copycat of Ireland. But Burnham is already compromised, as he already leans heavily on tik tok and social media as a means to nominally running the country.
|
|
By:
Actually, no. Surely you don't think this was an appropriate reaction. I read that he was at a football match yesterday enjoying himself. He's already been on holiday for a fortnight. He doesn't want to be in downing street, he doesn't like dressing appropriately all the time. He has dodged any kind of scrutiny. He announces crrrap via tik tok. So far he is deeply unimpressive.
What's gone before is irrelevant. His own party have determined he is the chosen one. And he already looks like another dud. |
|
By:
Anyone could have seen what happened in Kildare and think this is a trend that could easily bleed into England. In fact it's probably there, under the radar. A proactive government could have got on the front foot and made it known they were aware of the risk. And asked the civil service to plan for such eventualities. We are just folk typing onto a Politics betting forum and if we can figure it out, surely the people whose job it is, and have access to all the information do. The police should be tasked with tracking down anyone anyone who is clipping these stunts to tik tok in this country.

"He went on holiday for a fortnight" and.........
Do you assume he was unavailable during that time? "dressing appropriately" I don't even know what that means. Have a go at the man on policy or even principles but this is weak gruel. |

I do agree with you about those tik tok stunts doing tik tok stunts though.
