Surely we can all agree that America was actually built on diversity though. A constant influx from all over Europe and Asia as well as from the southern countries with the best minds gravitating there. Silicon Valley has long been a very mixed area and the AI companies are home to hundreds of different nationalities.

the slave trade was unilaterally abolished by britain when nobody else thought it was a problem. the islamic slave trade went on into the 1960s. its stil going in africa
the navy set up a squadron to suppress it and it cost a fortune and many lives trying to do so. the empire is way beyond your comprehansion. you have zero historical perspective. try judging all equally. as it is we are judged by contemporary standards but others not at all. what were places like india all africa etc like prior to the brits turning up? they were absolutely brutal and british influence was hugely beneficial
previously local chiefs had total power of life and death and used it without mercy, ammassing hundreds of slaves and harems of girls who were entirely expendable. the notion of human rights was totally alien. arbitrary murder at the whim of the ruler was normal
it was trade that made it successful. locals recognised they had a better chance with the brits than with the slave=masters who owned them. there was no army roaming around the wortld conquering peoples. this is very simplistic but broadly true.
the wellspring on the staggering rise of the u.s was christian liberal democracy, the respect of human rights, property rights, independent judiciary and freedom of religion and a spirit of inquiry absent from large parts now
the u.s was built by immigrants from the british isles and then europe. f all to do with whats happening now. southern countries? bollox. and why was south amercia such a disaster by comparison? you wont understand that either. 'hundreds of nationalities'? utter sh1te.
theres a reason everyone wants to be in europe and the anglosphere. its created the world people want to be in but will never appear in most parts of it
rubbish from porcpie as usualthe slave trade was unilaterally abolished by britain when nobody else thought it was a problem. the islamic slave trade went on into the 1960s. its stil going in africathe navy set up a squadron to suppress it and it cos
You seem to want to argue but choose to ignore my points that a) Slavery was a huge part of making Britain "great" (never mind the ending of it) b) and the profiting, or "trade" as you call it with colonies, or c) that immigrants built America, never mind your view of immigration there now.
Started early?

Or indeed d) the tech industry based on immigrants. Elon Musk (S African). Larry Page (son of a Jew). Sergey Brin (Russian). Jeff Bezos (dad half-Danish, stepdad Mexican). Mark Zuckerberg (son of Jews).
That's just the top dogs. Never mind the thousands of skilled workers creating all the stuff. Packed full of immigrants from all over the world.

you are incapable of sticking to the point and just say what you want
slavery didnt make britain anything. it was a net cost as the state spent 100 years trying to stamp it out when nobody else was interested. and many british troops died in the process
it was the spirit of inquiry, in science and the arts and medicine that did it, way before most others. boffins discoveries fed trade and spread worldwide with comparative ease, and no armies required. great advances in engineering largely happened here and there was little fear of arbitrary acts of confiscation and repression that existed elsewhere, at that time (thats the important bit)
these simple rules of law, human rights, freedom of expression and comparative religious liberty were the drivers of it
cultural and religious repression elsewhere strangled any semblance of progress. theres a reason the industrial revolution happened here. unthinkable anywhere else. to this day a single british university has more nobel prizes than whole continents
immigrants from the british isles and then europe built the u.s. they created a nation remarkably free from oppression and religious persecution, at the time, inconceivable. progress waas startlingly rapid and necessity allied to freedom of thought showed its worth. cultural and religious fatalism, which bedevils the world to this day, was absent
nobody from russia or south africa then. not '100s of nationalities'. total rubbish. they turned up later when their own societies proved incapable of similar
never happened in south america. for good reason
and britain found aus and nz. as far away as its possible to be, both a roaring success also. why us? why not china/ or japan? again, culture

Ironic, just a couple of days after Juneteenth, that someone thinks America was uniquely created free from oppression.
History ain't what it used to be.

i aint no fan of that nutcase, as you might know if i wasnt deleted all the time
by the standards of its time it was the gold version. declarations of rights like it were utterly inconceivable elsewhere, except here or maybe in the scandi nations
dispute this
history is what it has always been. some try to distort it for their own ends, usually nationalistic or fascist or communist
you have backtracked and accept all i wrote is correct. apology accepted

Why should I dispute anything? Read what I said. I said America was built on diversity. You're the one who brought other nations into it, not me.
As for the rest, try an alka seltzer I reckon.

Originally, the word "diversity" simply meant "variety," "difference," or "the condition of being different.". So yes, before the word was taken over by the rainbow mob, diversity made Bradford, Dewsbury, Oldham, Luton, Birmingham and many other towns what they are today, utter dumps.

I think we are ALL agreed : Diversity certainly DIDN'T build Britain, but what passes for "Diversity" today is certainly destroying Britain (and elsewhere).

Personally I was very impressed with Andy Burnham in QT. Then I watched the Sky Makerfield coverage with two MPs from (one from Reform and one from Labour) and I just think we are stuffed as a country.
